Seems that if is true he had a passing overall grade, he bombed one of these LAP tests. Assuming the teacher did allow a retry and he passed, he failed a subsequent one and the prof was having none of it.

It wasn't the LAP tests that I bombed, rather it was one of the final projects that I rushed through and only got a 50% on.  That is what hurt me.  The LAP tests were all in the 90's or 100%.
You were giving us scores for each test and many were less than 90...

What Duke says is a real thing. I've been working very hard to get in shape for about 18 months now. My parents think I'm "so skinny." My dad told me that I'm "turning into a stick figure."  I'm 5'8, 175-180, and am still well within overweight BMI. The cultural expectation of obesity in the non-elite South is ridiculous.

Bushie, what are your thoughts on Pentacostals and glossolalia?

Getting Bushie to take multivitamins is the greatest victory by the forum in history of the Update "Diet" plot. I will now accept my accolades.

Congrats, Bushie.
You didn't get him to take them. You got him to buy them. Getting Bushie to buy something requires no special skill.

whatever happened the $100 worth of walking gear bushie bought?

I've brought that up a couple of times only to have it ignored.
Whatever happened to the fish oil pills that Bushie was going to take?

bushie do you have a phone phobia?

i actually had one for many years.

I don't have phone phobia, but I did recently realize that I virtually never make phone calls anymore.  Whatever I once might have used phone calls for has now been replaced by email, Facebook, and video calls (via either Google or Skype).  And on the rare occasions when I make phone calls, it's as likely to be done via Gmail on my laptop than it is via an actual phone.

I use the phone mostly for work stuff. Ditto for email. With my friends, it's all about texting.

You have to cling to God because you're working with black people?

they really still pay people $7.25/hour in oklahoma?
To be fair, I believe tenants in Grandma Bushie's "rent house" pay only $150/ mo. Most months, I pay more than that just for utilities.

I do hope more African American characters are in God's plan for Update.

Yes. The show could use some diversity.
It's long been good about having Native American characters.

In sales jobs, if you don't sell, you get shown the door. This won't last long.

Bushie in a sales job. I predict another high quality and lengthy JMann post. Also, no company likes to throw money around. That a sucker's pitch they used to lure you in. Joke's on them this time though. You need to start planning your next step for after this job. It won't be long.

I'll just note that given how most of what Bushie does contradicts Christian teachings, I don't think it makes sense to blame religion for what he does. There are plenty of similar atheist psychological crutches to use in order to justify bad behaviour.

It is lunch time and the day is going great.  We haven't done much yet today only going over the call flow.  We may shadow agents already on the  floor this afternoon.  This is easy money today.

Well yes, it is quite easy to not do anything.
He's just parroting glib comments from his sales manager. AT&T loves throwing money around. It's easy money today. And so forth.

I am what I am and can't help it, everyone is special and different, I'm ruled by chemical reactions, whatever. I live in a very secular country, people walk around being entitled and stupid all the same.

If Bushie was actually ruled by his faith he obviously wouldn't be scamming, porn-watching, leeching, lying and so on.
This would only be true if religion actually worked as claimed, which, of course, it doesn't. Of course, not all of his character traits are tied exclusively to his religion, but it's clearly a huge influence. Take a look at the stats on highly religious people. It's not a pretty picture. Obesity, mental illness, poverty, fatalism, a overreliance on feelings over actual information,  etc. Religion is not a magic spell. It's simply an oppressive system applied to unfortunate people, and Bushie is what happens when you apply the virulent Southern Baptist strain to a person who already has some heavy duty problems, which a lot of people do. It's an absolute mess.

JMann, as usual I am impressed by the quality, insight, and efforts in your Update contributions. I will, however, respectfully quibble with one point. People like Bushie, and there are far more of his ilk than yours, will never love their jobs. Yes, some jobs are certainly better suited for him than others, but this sort of job soulmate talk isn't helpful for people on the other side of the tracks. Somebody has to clean hotel rooms, somebody has to scan bar codes, somebody has to haul away the port a potties after Mardi Gras. Some people are lucky enough to land a sweet career. The rest of us just want to pay the bills and have some fun before it's time to lay in a box. I think a steady paycheck is an enormously important goal for Bushie to strive for, even though he'll never get it at his current job.

Papa and Mama Bushie probably don't want him working with those people anyway. This job is toast. If you want a town in reasonable distance of OKC without having to worry about them, you should try NW Arkansas, home to your favorite big box, and nary a black anywhere!

JMann, I wasn't trying to suggest that your success was merely a matter of luck, so I apologize for my poor word choice. I am sure that you are a very hard worker. You're clearly the poster who puts the most effort into this thread.
I do think, though, that one's innate talent is a chancey matter. It's not just that we all have different skills and must be sorted appropriately. Some people are simply remarkably gifted, and some in more than one field. Others are not and a simple job is all they can muster. That was what I was getting at with the luck comment.

I'm not familiar with how it works exactly, but I believe people who upload super popular videos on youtube can now get paid. It may be time for Video Update!!!

I wonder if he had to be escorted off the property by a large black security guard or if he went willingly.

All things considered, things are about to get fun at work.  Outbound is tough, but it's doable even for my personality type.  It's not a job I'll have forever, but it can last me until I get a CAD job.  I will start looking when I get home tomorrow night.  I just don't have to rush and worry.  I'm not desperate.  I am going to do all I can to keep this job until I start the new one.

How many sales have you made?
In his entire life, I believe he sold Ameriscam to the Brown family. That's it. After trying to also sell Kirby vacuums (in two seperate stints), Rainbow vacuums, and life insurance.

He attempted to sell Ameriscam here - resulting in his forced removal as as a moderator - which... um... speaks volumes as to his sales skills and general business acumen.
It says more about the selection process for moderators on this forum.
