If Trump's achilles heel is Suburban women... That weaken would be amplified vs Beto (who would likely be one of the strongest Dem nominee's with Suburban woman. (I think Beto would also pull in some of the Under 45 suburban women in swing states ... that are still barely supporting Trump).

Beto will fit right in with the other early 40-something leaders of the free world...

Please don't. Macron is doing a terrible job in France. Even the rich don't like him anymore. He has done terrible things, and i sincerely believe Trump is a better world leader than he is.

I actually wasn't making a commentary on the politics of Macron & Trudeau (Although I do like Trudeau and I don't know much about Macron's politics on a micro level)...

I was really more sort of joking that they look like they could be an aging boyband or something- and the fact that it would be sort of unusual to have 3 major democratic elected leaders who are all in their early to mid 40s (I think Trudeau and Beto are actually less than a year apart age wise).

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has an article about whether Beto can beat Trump in Texas. Lots of quotes from various D and R consultant types and some university Professors, with no clear consensus:

god lol those GOP consultants in denial
I like Cruz's manager Jeff roe for actually admitting Beto gave a strong performance.

One thing I've noticed... Beto seems to have garnered a lot of good will & respect from Ted Cruz campaign staff & I assume some Ted supporters as well.... due to running a strong & (probably more importantly) positive campaign.  Depending on how widespread this notion is in Texas- it could really have an impact on Beto's chances of carrying Texas if he gets the nomination.

I think if Castro were to end up parlaying his Presidential campaign into a Senate campaign (which could bolster latino turnout) + a small % of Cruz voters who may be willing to vote for a likeable Texas over Trump ... + the base of support Beto built up during the Senate campaign = A potential Texas upset on election night.

(and even more so if Beto were to have a Neighboring latina like Governor Grisham on his ticket).

From the deep thinkers at the National Review, this offering:

The Snob Party
Of course the Democrats are still mad for Beto: He is who they are.

How profound!...

Well, it looks like they are already pivoting to General Election mode. This is probably what we should expect the attack line against Beto to be once it becomes clear that he has won the nomination.

The "Democrats are all rich" thing is just another example of conservatives refusing to admit that minorities exist.

Wasn't the Right Wing's hand picked wonderboy in the 2018 election .... Stanford/ Yale Law Educated ... infamous Wine Shopper ... Josh Hawley? (I assume a favorite of National Review)

Gross, I can't stand Chris Cillizza but Beto does have a problem of being taken seriously. He needs to position himself from viral Instagram star to presidential candidate and no the trip to the dentist did not help.

I actually think that when it comes to the majority of the country that would consider voting for Beto... he doesn't have a problem being taken seriously.  I think the lightweight mantra is one that is mainly being pushed by supporters of potential opponents (both R's and primary opponents).

That said- I do agree that if Beto post too many more video like his Dentist visit- everything could go pear shaped... very quickly.
