Assuming all candidates are qualified for the job (and that "more qualified" is simply a varying matter of opinion)...
Considering Women & Minorities make up such a large large % of the Democratic Party & Voting base... should it be an important goal to have a presidential ticket that includes a female, minority, or female minority, etc?
EDIT... added after many have voted in the poll....
(I have always thought it was a big mistake for Hillary not to pick either J Castro or Booker as her VP pick... and that had she done so, she would be president right now, despite any mistakes made in the campaign, etc ... especially since she won the primary due to the strong support from racial minorities). But, I think racial representation does generate an extra bit of excitement among respective minorities (which make up over 50% of the Democratic voting base).
In general the VP pick has almost always been about identity politics... typically geography or age (so why not representation balance via race or sex?).
