Okay, folks. We're back, I'll give Mr. Kenobi (who needs to swear-in) 24 Hours to open his Speakership Nominations and Election.
If he doesn't swear in, I'm technically the Dean by 7 minutes, right?

I'm running for Speaker.
I'd like to nominate Jacobin American for Deputy Speaker.

Out of curiosity, how would a tie be resolved?

I see nothing in the Chamber rules that permit the Governor to break a tie in this fashion.
who do you think would break the tie then?

Yay, we aren't stuck in legislative limbo-land! Smiley I would way rather have dtr as speaker than not be able to do anything for two months lol

We have no consensus. Cuber's ballot is invalid as it was edited more than 10 minutes after it was cast.

Since we don't have any precedents of a tie vote for Speakership here in the South, I am going to appoint a commission of three members to sort this out.

I am appointing Leinad, Spiral and Peebs to the new

'Electoral Commission for the South'.
REALLY!?
YOU PM'd ME TO EDIT MY BALLOT BECAUSE YOU SAID IT WAS INVALID
SHAME

THERE IS NO RULE REGARDING BALLOT EDITS ANYWAY

Indeed. I PMed you as soon as I saw it because your vote was invalid as it had more than one ballot on it.
yes and then you made up a rule to make my ballot invalid you partisan hack, go home

Uh, it's a good rule that you cannot edit your ballots *after* they are cast, after a specific period.

In any case, 5+ hours for fhtagn's edit is a bit much.

I'm happy to appoint the commission to adjudicate this, as I think it's important to settle this.

What do you think JustinTimeCuber?

Do you think that's a fair way to do this?
No, I'm suing you, because you decided you get to make up arbitrary rules without telling people first.

So, I am not out of line with the general practice of Atlasians.
Yes but there are actually RULES for that.

Yes, but a Speaker election is different than a federal or regional election.
Just wondering, is there an official law or somewhere in the Southern constitution where it says 15 minutes? If not, I'm skeptical that that's allowed.

This was all going to Brase anyways...

I'm contesting this and filing my own case against Governor Never Again.

Indeed I do. Speaker Diptheriadan was vacating his position as Speaker and appointed me to the position.

Are you suggesting that I can now appoint Diptheriadan to the Speakership as he did me?
No, DTR was governor when he appointed you and he appointed you from the governor's office.

Run a second vote here, with the same candidates, for 72 hours, and clearly state the rules, and I will withdraw my court case.

We literally cannot certify this election, Cuber. With you taking it up to Brase, you've taken it out of my hands. So long as your challenge is up there, I can't start a revote, I can't start anything.

Do you understand that?

okay, fair enough

I withdraw this case conditional on Delegate Ben Kenobi calling for a re-vote in the next two hours with the condition that no vote shall be invalidated without breaking a rule clearly stated in the original post calling for a re-vote.

I support Fhtagn becoming Speaker, she has a history of bipartisan approaches and got my 2nd preference Cheesy
If fhtagn decides to run for Speaker I will re-consider my run.

Apologies for my edit, it was just to fix a typo with my own name since I voted on my phone, which is harder than using my laptop.

I go away for a few hours and sh*t literally hit the fan lol

looks like Ben is just a member of the alt-write, throwing a tantrum over a typo. Curly

Hrm?

Still waiting to hear from Leinad over the proposed rule changes from Never Again.
I conditionally withdrew JustinTimeCuber v. Ben Kenobi, with conditions laid out on that thread.

I motion for unanimous consent to allow Ben Kenobi to run an election for Speaker, with a 24 hour nomination period and 48 hour vote, unless all Delegates vote in under 48 hours.

Let's just say 12 hours to object, fair enough?
