There are valid reasons to own a gun (maybe not where you live, but definitely in other parts of the country), and in most countries of the world, people are allowed to own guns yet they don't have school shootings at this scale.

Can you list what countries allowed to own guns easy like the US?

Perhaps you misunderstood me, but I was speaking about my opinion of the idea that we should literally ban all guns from private usage, which S019 implied in his comment and which (if my memory serves me correctly) he has supported in the past.

Also, I did not say that in most countries of the world, people are allowed to own guns easily (nor did I ever state it should be that way). I said that in most countries of the world, people are allowed to own guns as private citizens. Here are some examples (out of the thirty most populated countries where people are allowed to own handguns as private citizens):

  • India
  • The United States
  • Pakistan
  • Brazil
  • Mexico
  • Ethiopia
  • The Philippines
  • Egypt
  • Viet Nam
  • The Democratic Republic of the Congo
  • Turkey
  • Germany
  • France
  • Thailand
  • South Africa
  • Italy (!!!) (In fact, no valid reason's needed, just a permit)
  • Colombia
  • Kenya
  • Spain

Now, obviously, the United States is very unique as in a permit is not required to receive a handgun in most U.S. states. I never said it should be this way, though, and I do think that it'd be a good idea to slightly restrict gun usage to the level where people are required to get a permit in order to own a gun. In fact, I said, in the sentence that you cut off from my quote, that "There obviously has to be some kind of balance between literally banning all guns and our current situation."

I've misunderstood, but more weapons more accidents
in Italy you need a reason, they don't give you a permit so, obviously is ever in the italian way, and the permit not authorize you to go out with the gun, if you need to train you can move with it not ready to fire and a pre-registered range
