Yup. Of course this happened. Right wing denizens like Grasr00ts and Fuzzy immediately seized on Betts left-leaning ideology so they can muddy the waters and lessen the evilness of white supremacy. "Well, I guess both sides are bad." "If Betts' ideology wasn't a factor in this shooting then neither was Crusius', so maybe white supremacy isn't a threat."
Guess what? Betts was also an extreme misogynist and had a kill list and a rape list of women. He was obsessed with violence and mass shootings. That's definitely pretty similar to many right wing shooters we've had so I'm not surprised the blue avatars haven't mentioned this.
And let's be real, there's a huge fundamental difference between Betts' pretty standard left-wing political leanings and Crusius' sociopolitical ideology. There's no "both sides". One is a set of beliefs on how the economy should be structured and such with little regard to racial or ethnic composition of a state, the other is an explicitly violent ideology that supporters happily admit is geared towards ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Of course rightwingers want to muddy the water, but it is pretty obvious that Betts' leftwing Bernie leaning political beliefs did not factor into him killing all those people. Crusius' did, his killings were predicated upon violent racial cleansing and violent intimidation of Latinx people. He literally wrote about it. Betts' killings came from the same violent psychology as Crusius' did, except it was divorced from political ideology. Except y'all righties can't stand that and refuse to understand that white supremacist terrorism doesn't have a counterpart in mainstream leftism.
