How come? I'm pretty curious about this seat, but this seems like the kind of election you can't really predict unless the choice is very blatantly lopsided. I'm pretty sure PA judicial races are partisan so that is a plus I guess.

Either way if Democrats can pick up this seat then they should control the PA Supreme Court through 2030, cementing their power over legislative maps for the next generation. Well, assuming everyone sticks around that long, anyhow.

Woodruff is a former Steelers player and has been heavily campaigning in Western PA, specifically in Pittsburgh. I know it sounds ridiculous but people are going to vote for him just because he was a Steelers player. My Parents, who both vote republican, voted for him for that reason today. Philly and specifically Pittsburgh will carry him over. I’ve also seen no Mundy campaign signs. She’s been running a very quiet campaign.

Any PA posters have any knowledge on the Homestead Exemption vote?

From what little I've read on the subject, the availability of the extended exemption would hinge significantly on the discretion of local bureaucrats which would seem to indicate the not indistinct probability that such a system would be extraordinarily vulnerable to horse trading / corruption.

I'm not quite sure what it was but I do know my father and I voted to abolish it. Please do not kill me.

At 32% reporting:
PA State Supreme Court

Dwayne D. Woodruff (D): 49.1%
Sallie Mundy (R) i: 45.8%

Crossing my fingers here. Woodruff is racking up a massive margin in Allegheny.

at 26% they were virtually tied so Woodruff regained his lead.

Did you flip the parties?

Yes it was an accident. Woodruff is the Democrat and Mundy is the Republican. I accidentally did vice versa.

Democrats also lead for all four open spots on the superior court so we are looking at a bad night for PA democrats too.

Muindy is also on track to win Lackawanna county and that makes me very nervous for the future. In reply to MT, I'm getting it from here

The Supreme Court seat may have to rely on Chester county. Philly suburbs that voted for Clinton but also went for Toomey so I'm unsure here.

Yeah Mundy is going to win Sad

She's closing in and Woodruff is running out of votes in Allegheney and Philadelphia county. Mundy is also winning Eerie, Centre, Lackawana, and Luzerne.

I'm not exaggerating when I say PA has some of the worst voters in the country.

Bo Dietl currently gettin 1 percent of the vote, behind the other independent.

LMFAO.

I'm actually quite surprised. I thought he would garner at least 5%. He even participated in the three-way debate with de Blasio and Maliotakis.

PA Supreme Court
55% in

Dwayne D. Woodruff (D): 50.34%
Sallie Mundy (R): 49.66%

Too close and with too many votes left to count for my comfort...
The only thing keeping me optimistic here is the fact that the Democrats are surely going to take 3/4 of the Superior Court seats so maybe Woodruff will pull off a very narrow victory.

Too bad it doesn't work for me for some reason. Numbers according to the AP, with 47% reporting:

   Woodruff, Dwayne   Dem   402,588   56%
   Mundy, Sallie (i)   GOP   313,833   44%

I would much rather believe yours lol.

Ugh. Atleast it looks like we will sweep the Superior court. We will then have a major advantage in both that and the Supreme court.

Well that dampened my enthusiasm for Northam's win. At least it will go unnoticed by Trump and his goons.

The thing we saw in 2015 was that Democrats finally overcame the downballot edge in Philly burbs that Republicans had managed to maintain, but hadn't compensated in the rest of the state.

Luzerne, Erie and Lackawanna should be very concerning for Democrats going forward. And Democrats are lucky that Bob Casey Jr. is a home town hero in Scranton.

I have full confidence in Casey and his reelection campaign...

Fun Fact: My sister and her husband and daughter met him on the tram at the airport and got a picture with him! All happened today!

Woodruff closed the gap. It's a .7 race. He still has votes in Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, and Lehigh so he may still have a chance.

Just want to let everyone who is reading way too much into this Supreme court race to know that the turnout in this election is abysmally low. Neither candidate is going to hit a million votes. Think about that. Trump and Clinton both had 2.9 million votes respectively. And as we all know, low turnout benefits Republicans. Mundy actually won Delaware county... think about that.

I do wish Woodruff won. I met him before and he was a very genuine guy with an awesome story, he attended law school while still playing for the Steelers. I hope he runs again for an open seat during a Presidential or Midterm election year.

Mundy up 3%. Bob Casey is squealing seeing these results.

Dude, I hope you're trolling. The turnout is so low that that the amount of people who voted equals the population of Idaho, Pennsylvania would never vote against a Casey, and that we still won 3/4 superior court seats. This means nothing and Bob is comfortably sitting back and watching which GOP goon will come out to get steamrolled by him.

Dems now assured of controlling PA Supreme Court 4/3 during 2021 redistricting absent any unexpected vacancies.

Another massive blow against the Republicans tonight! Trump and Ryan taking Ls.

Tonight was just a complete disaster for Trump and the GOP. 2018 is going to be miserable for them. Plus they lost control of the Gerrymandering process for Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Dude, I hope you're trolling. The turnout is so low that that the amount of people who voted equals the population of Arizona, Pennsylvania would never vote against a Casey, and that we still won 3/4 superior court seats. This means nothing and Bob is comfortably sitting back and watching which GOP goon will come out to get steamrolled by him.

The Democrats used to win low turnout elections in Pennsylvania. And also high turnout elections in Pennsylvania. Then the blue wall was smashed by Donald Trump.

Barletta is ready and able to assemble the 2.9 million Trump voters that won this state.

Yeah good luck with that, Pennsylvania will never reject a Casey over a botox-addicted psycho.
