Good way to deflect from the first job losses in 7 years.
There;s no serious economist who thinks that wasn't because of Harvey and Irma.

There were no job losses after any of the hurricanes that occurred during Obama's administration. Trump was supposed to be this outstanding businessman that would create great prosperity, yet we see job losses not even a year into his term. Maybe there is some validity to the hurricane claim, but politically it's a poor excuse. When you build yourself up as so grand, there are no excuses for job losses.

Are you being serious? Attributing the job losses during one of the worst hurricane months of this century, which hit population centers in two of the largest states in the country, to anything other than hurricanes is r/the_donald or Breitbart levels of stupid. Like, I don't like Trump either but come on man. September is typically a month with job "losses" because college and high school kids are coming off summer vacations. Add to that the fact that Florida had gas stations that went over a week without getting gas and Houston was underwater for days and it's pretty obvious how there were job losses in September.

To add on to this, has Trump even done anything economics-related?

I think the most you could attribute to him is businesses making decisions in anticipation of a deregulation and tax cut bonanza. Even with that, there doesn't seem to be anything substantially different from 2016 in terms of jobs. Other than that, Trump & Co. have not really done much of anything the entire year.

Yeah, it's pretty disappointing for what I was expecting back in January. But that's long gone.

Anyway, when is it usually that the previous president's economic impact wears off?

^I think by the new fiscal year, when we are already in (technically, at least). Although I think there is an assumption that the new governing party will have passed a decent number of reforms by then, including a new budget. For 2017, it might as well be assumed that the country has been on auto-pilot since 2016.

Ah ok. Thank you Smiley
