Oh, it has been no worse than normal. Of course, next to nobody in the media gets the financial stuff, but when on God's Green Earth did they ever?  They get their usual gentlemen C. I really like that Schieffer character though. Too bad he's an old, and on his way out. Some of the cable personalities are noisome of course - shock jocks in suits.

And part of it, is that McCain has not helped the media to focus enough on the issues. If he could articulate his views better on health care, finance, budgets, entitlements, etc, that would help the media to do a better job.

Is it any  better in the home counties?  The BBC seems vapid. Granted, in that room with the green benches, there seem to be more folks with a gift for vocalizing the English language effectively than over here. But not much more substance really. But then the two major parties don't disagree much on substance anymore now do they?

I don't know; I don't there and don't want to. But political coverage on the telly in Britain is awful as well, of course (and so much worse than it used to be in many respects) though not quite as bad as American political coverage... newspapers are a different story though.

Yes, in comparison, American newspapers tend to be trash. But then, Brit newspapers tend to be sold nationwide, and thus may have more resources. And maybe more Brits read newspapers still these days, old fashioned traditionalists as they can be when push comes to shove.
