Dan and I are going to the two cities the last week of May as his birthday present. For those in the know, any advice about what to see and do? We are attending a concert of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem. Thanks!

Thanks all for the advice. I gave it all to partner Dan to ponder. It's his birthday. Smiley

Hey Grumps, these towns are safe from me, because me French sucks. Tongue

And when will you come to Warsaw?

In case you're hesitating no, there are no polar bears roaming our streets.

Were they all killed during WW II?  When we go to Eastern Europe at some point (never been there before), Warsaw will definitely be on the itinerary. Thanks Kal. Smiley

Just don't say "Eastern Europe" to Poles. We tend to get upset over this Wink

In reading my text closely, I didn't quite say that Poland was in Eastern Europe. I said that when we go to Eastern Europe (does St. Petersburg qualify?), Warsaw will be on the itinerary. Perhaps the pot dens of Amsterdam will be also.  In fact, maybe I would time the trip so that I could sign up for one of those events there, where they have these pot strain competitions, and for a fee, I can serve as one of the judges sampling all contestants' bud.

How did I do trying to wiggle out of that one?  Tongue

In Montréal, I recommend a hike up Mount Royal and of course the Gay Village (Saint Catherine Street).

In Québec City I recommend visiting the Château Frontenac hotel and Le Hobbit restaurant. There are many other fantastic little restaurants on Rue Saint-Jean.

Yes, partner Dan discovered the Gay Village, and booked us into a "men's only" hotel. Tongue

We'll probably be in Montreal for a couple of days in August.

Last time I was there I attended a jazz festival, but it's not the time of year for that.  Later we drove to Quebec and ate at Le Lapin Sauté.  I had the signature dish, of course.  Not bad, but I've had better rabbit in China.

By the way, I also worked in Amsterdam for a semester, and I'll pile on with a comment similar Warsaw's comments about Poland:  don't call 'em "pot dens."  The preferred term is koffiehuis, or "coffee house" if you get choked on koffiehuis.

You're pretty goddamned politically incorrect for a lawyer, aren't you?

Thanks so much for the compliment. I appreciate it very much! In other news, from Quebec City, we are going down to Hancock, ME, and visiting Arcadia National Park. Then we go down to Portland, ME (I just love that city), and then from Portland back home. The route I picked from Portland was in part chosen to go through New Hampshire. I plan to be on the lookout there for angry women, and will report my findings upon my return.

Très joli montage video en parfaite adéquation avec le texte de cette merveilleuse chanson.
Merci.

And apparently it snows in Montreal. Who knew? Smiley
