Since when is going to school not wanting to change someone's life?  I have nothing to be ashamed of.  I am NOT going to hell because of the crap and lies you mention. I am going to heaven because I accepted Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross.  That's it.  Left to my own, yeah, I'd be going to he'll, but I'm not on my own. God walks with me hand in hand, day by day.  I'm fine.

Yes, I broke down, and read this page of the thread. First Bushie, speculation is not libel. You should not toss that word around recklessly. Second, the one thing that is clear is that you are doing close to everything possible short of suicide to join your Jesus in heaven at the earliest practicable time - at which time all of your problems will go away, to be replaced by joy and contentment.

Bushie elucidated well the single most offensive thing I find in Christianity, or at least certain iterations of it (maybe offensive is not the best word, but it will do for now) - that it is only through faith, and faith alone, in Jesus, that one gets into heaven, and it is irrelevant what one does on this Earth. Damn Luther for letting that one out of the Pandora's Box. If that is the deal, I would much prefer bunking next to Mark Twain in hell.

Try more like 50 calories Bushie (20/60 x 150 = 50).  One does not get away for long around here with throwing errant facts up in the air hoping they stick to something. No, Bushie, you didn't walk more than 2 miles per hour in speed either, unless you were walking briskly. Presumably you are not so foolish as to claim that you walked briskly (with 3 miles per hour being really brisk). Oh, I see now that at your weight walking briskly actually burns less calories (unless vigorously jogging) than walking at a more deliberate pace. Odd that.

Throw your app in the trash Bushie. It's giving you false readings. The only way I could fathom that the chart is off by more than half vis a vis your app, with the app actually being semi accurate is if (i) you are so out of shape that even perambulating deliberately gets your heart rate up to 150 beats per minute with you huffing and puffing, and (ii) more heart beats per minute means more calories burned (not sure about that). Anyway, if that is all true, it means that this must have been about the first time you walked anywhere other than from your car to the interior of a MacDonalds in months.

Walking .833 miles is a long walk (assuming that you walked at a 2.5 mile an hour pace (didn't you need to stop to let your dog pee and smell stuff, etc.))?  Who knew?

Down to about 46 calories now per the chart. Are the streets unsafe in your parents' hood?

I am not sure that you "need" to tithe on gifts as opposed to income. If it were income, then sure, tithe, because if its income, then somebody has a deduction to take reducing their income, unless it is for non-deductible services (say if Bushie were cleaning house in exchange for his stream of cash from his parents (but Bushie does not do that, maybe because down "there" house cleaning is women's work). The Catholic Church fwiw thinks tithing is based on one's income.

I know gluttony is a sin, but is sloth a sin? Just asking those who know the Bible.

Torie, have you ever read the verse take the log out of your own eye before pointing out other people's sin?  This means taking a look at yourself before pointing the fingers at others.  You're in your early 60's, you of all people should know that.

You don't think I am adequately self critical?  I assume that is what you mean. You didn't answer my question by the way. I was/am genuinely curious if the Bible considers sloth a sin. It is in my world, but then that world is hardly co-extensive with what the Bible says, because, inter alia, I'm Godless.

Is Torie actually a Christian?  Why are you expecting him to follow the Bible?

I assumed it was the Biblical equivalent that people who live in glass houses, shouldn't throw stones, or something like that. I freely admit that I have character flaws however.

I don't think the seven deadly sins, which include gluttony and sloth, are in the Bible so only Catholics follow them.

Ah ha!  The dots are connected. Thanks. The Protestant (or some variations thereof at least) Jesus is OK with sloth and gluttony. Smiley
