A selectman is not an alderman. Pretty much just a (very) low-level election official.

Oh it is like  the temporary people who staff polling places and apparently they keep voter lists at the ward level rather than at the county level. That is freaking weird.  These people in Hudson get paid $40 or something on election day. They are appointed by the county board of elections, by the Pub and Democratic election commissioners.
