What happened to Scott Perry should scare everyone IMO!

Imagine you are travelling with your family and a bunch of FBI Agents show up and take your personal cell phone just because you are opposing the current Political Party in Power?

That's not the reason is was confiscated.
But nice fairy tale. What child's story book did you find that one in?
That is exactly why it was confiscated! He opposes the current Political Party and is a Trump Supporter.

Why wasn't Elise Stefaniks Cell Phone confiscated for example? Tell us.

To think that Perry would have something to do with a National Archives Investigation is totally obscure.

Scott Perry, according to reports, is a material witness (at least) in the DOJ's investigation of the false elector plot.  Stefanik has not been connected with it at all.

However, discussion of Perry's phone confiscation is off-topic for this thread.  Take it to the Jan. 6 thread or start a separate one.
Wrong!
Perrys Phone confiscation has everything to do with Govtm Overreach and FBI Banana Scare Tactics and that's also being discussed in this Thread!

One thing is for sure: We are going to reign in Merrick "Craptastic" Garland if Republicans take over the House.

Merrick Snarkland, you are fired.

The House of Representatives does not have the power to fire the Attorney General, cry harder.
The House of Representatives does have the Power to impeach Merrick Garland and I think he will be impeached should Republicans have House Control in January.

Of Course he always could resign before he is impeached.

Why would he resign since there is zero chance he would be convicted.
To spare Biden an Embarrassment.

The House can impeach a Cabinet officer, but it requires 2/3 of the Senate to remove him.  Good luck with that.
I know it takes 2/3 to remove him but impeached is impeached. There will be other Investigations like for example why the DoJ and Garland called out parents domestic terrorists.

Bidens life in the WH will become very miserable just like Garlands life at the DoJ.

Republicans will absolutely do the same thing Democrats did to the Trump WH.

The current Administration will face a lot of Investigations from COVID Mask & Vaccine Mandate overreach to Afghanistan withdrawal, etc, etc, etc. I would suspect.

The House Freedom Caucus & America First Members won't mess around with McCarthy. If he doesn't do what they say he will not be Speaker.

My guess is actually that there will be a compromise among House Republicans and Steve Scalise will become Speaker.

Impeachments generally do not help the party in charge of the impeachment though. Republicans impeaching Clinton(or moving towards doing so) increased President Clinton's approvals and Republicans lost seats in a midterm.

Impeaching Trump in 2019 also resulted in Trump's approvals going slightly up so generally impeachment generally does not work.
There has already being Impeachment Articles written against Garland as I type here.

Old School Republican,
You know what struck me the most is the timing of this Search Warrant at Mar-a-Lago. Most of the sort of liberal Cable News saying the DoJ's Decision wasn't a Political One. How convinient!

BUT how can it not be when we are less than 85 Days away from the Midterms?

Do you have any thoughts on this?

I think either side will say it helped or hurt them once the Election is over.

Not OSR, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was *something* of a political move.  Or at the very least, those who ordered it aren't stupid -- even if it was completely apolitical on paper, they're not oblivious to its political implications.
I trend to agree with you! For the next basically 3 Months Trump will be in the News. That helps Democrats more then it helps Republicans.

Democrats can run against Trump and most of their failures during the last 2 years take a back Seat.

I mean I actually think it would be reckless for DOJ not to consider the political consequences of such a decision. Going after a former president is inherently political no matter what anyone says and that's why it should not happen other than the most serious of circumstances.

I do not agree with your belief that the President should be above the law except under extreme circumstances.
Did OSR say Trump is above the law? No he did not. Stop twisting his words.

What the 3 of us (OSR, Fuzzy Bear and myself) are saying that the timing is highly suspicious!

What would be a non-suspicious timing? Why should the DoJ change its procedures to placate one political party?
Non-Suspicious timing: Earlier this year! Late last year!

Republicans already saying this will be a drip, drip, drip thing to confuse Voters so they vote Democrat and Dems keep the House & Senate.

If the DoJ convicts Trump I hope it will be before he announces for President and before he wins any of the 2024 Contests.

It's now confirmed: There is collusion between this Investigation and the January 6 Investigation.

This kind of goes without saying but literally anything Trump says should not be taken at face value without independent corrobation.
Quite to the contrary: It wasn't Trump who made a mess out of it, it was Norah O'Donnell, that fake Irish Woman on CBS.

The Fact is the FBI did have those Passports and they are now have been returned to Trump.

I would be kind of surprised if it happens that quickly considering the special counsel only recently came on board, but given that the investigation was already well advanced I guess it's possible.
A Trump indictment would see Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on a glide path to the GOP 2024 Presidential Nomination as he would instantly inherit almost all of the Trump Base Voters so I hope this happens.

So he gets indicted on this one too. Hopefully Garland & Jack Smith will do their job!

What does it take for the Trump Cultists to abandon him?

Would be amazing if this 2nd Indictment comes right before Iowa to punish him!

Donald J. Trump is absolutely TOAST folks, TOAST, TOAST and TOAST!!!

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-rico-case-georgia-expert-says/

Unlike the Indictments in New York, Miami and Washington he will likely face felony charges under Georgias RICO Act. It will be much broader compared to the other Indictments.

That effectivly ends his Presidential Campaign.

Trump ain't going to get out of this one!

MaxTwain24 says so on Twitter

Must be true
If the Secret Service Protection Act gets amended by a possible Up-and-Down Simple Majority Vote Donald Trump is TOAST!
