How does #taxgate affect the race?

Unfortunately, like every other scandal during Trump's presidency, it will not affect his approval ratings, nor will it affect the outcome of the race at this juncture. Trump's base, as one can see from here and elsewhere, have already settled upon their narrative for this: that the NYT report does not reveal anything which wasn't previously suspected or known; that Trump is "smart" and had "good attorneys" because he was able to evade paying his fair share; and that it is a "non-story" cooked up by a evil and duplicitous media out to do the bidding of Biden, the Democrats, and the Left. And just like with the recent revelations about Hunter Biden, no one is going to allow this to affect their vote, given that their opinions of Trump and of Biden are fixed at this point.
