This has certainly changed my opinion about him. His race is still Safe R, but he's definitely not going to be a good addition to the House.

There will be many bad Republican additions to the House, many of them major downgrades from the Republicans who previously held those seats.

I certainly agree. Just about the only positive changes we've had on that front thus far has been the defeats of Steve King and Steve Watkins, and their impending replacement by Randy Feenstra and Jake LaTurner, both of whom are decidedly generic Republicans.

This is a nothingburger (even though he apparently has a penchant for weird posts/captions?) but I wouldn’t be surprised if some more serious oppo research on Cawthorn comes out down the road for obvious reasons.

Also, I want him to run against Jon Tester just for the lulz.

What do you mean by this?

I assume he means that Cawthorn is a "rising star" for the Republican Party, and will almost inevitably run for some higher office at some point. Thus, it would behoove the Democrats to preempt his future career ambitions. Nevertheless, reading the above article has definitely given me insight into his background, and he is much more of an ideological extremist then I had previously realized. Republicans are not going to be competitive at the national level with candidates who hold viewpoints such as his.

It's starting to smell like this will play out as he'll step down before the deadline for the Republicans to replace him as their nominee, although I don't know offhand what that date is, and give it to Mark Meadows batsh**t insane chief of staff who lost the primary, turning this back from lean r to safe r

Haven't additional women levied allegations against Cawthorn?

Cawthorn now faces three sexual assault allegations.

If it weren't for the fact that this is an R+14 district, I'd say this is now a Lean D race. As it is, given Morris Davis could turn out to be a potentially solid candidate, I'll move this one to a straight Tossup, pending further information.

It's amazing how horrific of a person Cawthorn has turned out to be. I definitely am upset at the fact that I defended this man against an attack early on. We'll see if a miracle happens here, but I doubt it. If he wins, he'll be in Congress for decades.

Hardly, all it takes is the NC D court to require Wautauga county to be shoved into this district for a Trump +11, Mccrory +2 district.

You're right-I forgot that North Carolina is liable to redistricting at any point. It's been redistricted at least three times over the past decade. But I still fear that once he gets in, he'll be difficult to get rid of.
