This seems like a knee jerk reaction to an admittedly questionable policy (and I’m far from pro-choice) and seems a bit odd the lurch to the left on this deeply divisive issue given you let me not fund this and you all voted for me for president just 2 weekends back. And had I been elected, I would have pushed for a watered down version of the gag policy through Congress (I’m not the biggest fan of executive orders in the game).

The fundamental question should be do we want to give funding to non-governmental services in general first. Then we should decide if such services who encourage abortion should be funded, and if so, at what phase during the pregnancy should be funded. Not based on how socially conservative the president is.

The gag order inherent to the Mexico City policy is why I believe this is necessary.  Atlasia is the largest global donor on health and the MCP complicates how health organizations provide their services as health programs that use funding may have to cut services linked to newborn, infant and child health (including vaccinations), prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis, and nutrition programs.  If the federal government is going to cut funding to organizations simply for counseling women on abortion (which also, I should add, rely on these health funds to combat high maternal mortality rates), then I think that funding those NGOs is worthwhile.

Why not fund them regardless of who leads the executive branch, then?

My mistake then.  I looked back at the last budget and it appears that while YE didn't want PAACCA funded he didn't remove it from the budget template, which Encke accounted for in his calculations.

As such, I motion that this bill be withdrawn.

What does PAACA stand for? To me that’s an unfunded bill, because the original bill has no acronym...

With no debate for a few days, I motion for a final vote. Members have 24 hours for objections.

Considering the debate on the Senate floor this isn’t wise.

I agree with the concerns of the first minister, therefore I object to this motion, pending the decision of the Senate.

Didn’t know I was FM... Tongue

Motioning for a final vote since the House hasn't even taken up the Mexico City bill yet.

Considering that we're down from 6 pro-choicers to 4 in the House, I have reservations this could even get to tmth's desk.
