Don't listen to him, Tony. If you want to experience an excruciating pain, better stick your hand into fire.

He needs his hand right now........that's the problem, Kal.  Wink

Amazingly the 3,4,5 posters will never be back and I probably won't be around to see anyone outside of the top 10 eclipse them.

I miss those guys.

Off-topic, but going through the statistics page, I noticed that November 2016 saw the largest influx of new users in Atlas history, at 547 new users for the month. The 2nd biggest month was, weirdly enough, September 2010 at 504 new users. After that, the 3rd largest doesn't even come close to those two as far as I can tell. Hell, comparatively, 2008 numbers were very underwhelming given that election's intensity.

I wonder why those two months, but Sept 2010 in particular, saw such large, isolated increases. Nov in a presidential election year makes a lot more sense than Sept of a midterm.

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?action=stats

Seeing if Obama would still have a Democratic Congress in his first set of mid-terms makes sense.  We'll probably see another spike pre-election 2018

The spike for this year seems painfully obvious.  Obama/McCain  Obama/Romney were milk-toast battles compared to this one.

Grumps making it into the top 10 some time early next year is starting to look plausible again, since he made ~360 posts in the last month.  Lief is going to get bumped out of the top ten by Jfern within the next ~3 months or so, and then Eraserhead is kind of a sitting duck, since he's all but stopped posting.  So Eraserhead will drop down to 10th place fairly quickly, and then could conceivably get bumped out by someone like Grumps next year.

Wow, you know how to get a guy to stop posting, MM.  Tongue

Yesterday was Atlas's most active day of the month, going by # of posts. 3rd highest in thread count, 2nd highest in user registrations, although the max users online count was unremarkable.

I found it interesting because the day prior to yesterday was somewhat unremarkable:

Monthly Summary   New Topics   New Posts   New Members   Most Online
2017-03-27              41                  1307             4                        317
2017-03-28              74                  1802             8                        285

I wonder why activity bumps like that happen seemingly out of the blue.

It's your fault, I'm sure.

Btw, fun fact: Now that Antonio is making almost 400 more posts per month than BRTD is, he's on pace to make it to 100,000 posts before BRTD does (some time in early 2025 or so).  Tongue

And speaking of 40,000 posts, I think Grumps is, at his current pace, less than 10 away from reaching that milestone on his own account.  He's still on pace to crack the top ten posters here before the end of 2018, since Eraserhead hasn't posted since April and will start sinking in the rankings if he doesn't come back soon.

If I ever needed an incentive to cut back, this will help.  Thanks, MM

I like how Grumps wrote this, and then proceeded to make over 400 posts in the month of October.  Tongue

Looking at the stats, I'm curious now at what point does Trump's effect on user activity here wear off? 2017 has been more active than any year prior except 2016, and in most cases substantially more active. It should figure then that 2020 would probably be a pretty banner year for Atlas, activity-wise.

Trump is a genius at generating news that creates a strong reaction. So as long as he is able to do that (i.e. given that he will never change, as long as in is in office), the post count should remain up.

Well that's good for our resident RSS Feed providers.  Tongue

Tender is around 250 posts away from overtaking Lewis Trondheim/Minion of Midas.

I miss Lewis' contributions here.  Cry

Grumps just passed Lief for 13th place.  At present rate, will presumably pass both Eraserhead and myself some time next year, and make it to 11th place.  But the gap between 10th and 11th remains large, so it’s still quite possible that he’ll never make it into the top 10.

1) BRTD 97,753
2) Al 64,429
3) olawakandi 59,419
4) Lewis 58,230
5) Tender 58,107
6) Kal 57,447
7) Antonio 54,121
8 ) Phil 52,638
9) North Carolina Yankee 51,124
10) jfern 50,049

11) Eraserhead 43,766
12) Mr. Morden 43,501
13) Grumps 42,686

11th is disgusting enough, MM. Cry  But thanks.

Yes, many consider opebo evil, but he often was a very entertaining poster.  He could have given Red a run for the top post count, for sure.

Earlier today, Grumps passed me for the #12 spot on the list.

UGH. Since we don't have a dislike button, I'll just express my disgust at this here.  Sad

After being gone for so so long, it amazes me that Lewis Trondheim is still 4th in active posts.  Damn man.  Smiley
