Not tough at all. Guilty. Somebody being a corrupt asshat is not justification for deadly force. If it were, there would be a lot more dead people.

Exactly.  But I'd opt for a lesser charge if it was included.

This is why I could probably never serve on a jury. I can not make decisions in accordance to the law, just my own personal views.

If it was your fanny on the line (not in this case, necessarily), would you want jurors to follow the law, or their personal views, which could be a double edged sword?

Where do jury pools come from? The entire region or just the immediate area? Because I'd obviously have a better chance with just Minneapolis than if they threw in a bunch of people from the suburbs.

In my area it's Allegheny County voter registrations, which includes the city of Pittsburgh and the burbs.  I think "county" voter registration pool is the correct answer in most cases.

Yes and no. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't.   Remember the OJ murder trial? One of the raps against the prosecution was that they let the case go downtown, rather than keep it on the Westside  (where the crime was committed), which would have almost inevitably led to a more bleached out jury - much more bleached out, and Jewish. OJ would have spent the ensuing period in San Quenton residing on a pedestrian only lane called "death row."

But for civil trials meeting certain criteria, they all go to Orange County central court, and are heard there, with the jury pool drawn from the entire county. My DUI case, if it ever gets heard, however, will be drawn soley from a Newport Beach pool of jurors, and that really, really sucks. I really should demand a change of venue, after I leak to the jurors how much I hate their snotty little materialist arrogant town. Smiley

You aren't defending yourself at trial, are you?  You're not going to hire some former {pers}prosecutor who tried these cases?    I know who I'd hire.......well, cause he's admitted in PA I can hire him too.  Cheesy
