McConnell to release new GOP health plan allowing bare-bones insurance policies

https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/mcconnell-to-release-new-gop-health-plan-allowing-bare-bones-insurance-policies/2017/07/13/8f0509c4-67bb-11e7-8eb5-cbccc2e7bfbf_story.html?utm_term=.2c644db56922#comments

Slim plans to "cut costs" but dry the funding for overall risk pools to a shriveling husk. Makes sense because of "freedooooommmm!!" Sometimes I wonder if the ppl putting together this bill have any grasp of risk pool basic math.

Live shot analogy look at McConnell's (Cruz's) plan if coverage was a car

Seven years of planning to repeal and replace and nothing substantive to show for it. At this point, I think even some die-hard conservatives would vote Dem next year due to the sheer ineptitude.

As I have always said, let ObamaCare fail and then come together and do a great healthcare plan. Stay tuned!

Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump  20 minutes ago
We were let down by all of the Democrats and a few Republicans. Most Republicans were loyal, terrific & worked really hard. We will return!

Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump  10 hours ago
Republicans should just REPEAL failing ObamaCare now & work on a new Healthcare Plan that will start from a clean slate. Dems will join in!

--

He's going all in on the repeal and hope for bipartisanship later strategy.

Meanwhile, a CBO score on a straight repeal bill:

Lee and Moran reportedly did not give the White House a heads up.

They are a no because they said it didn't cut enough but yeah I can see them wanted to tell Trump symbolically where to shove it. Probably Rand convinced them to switch from yes to no.

--

Update: CNN now reporting they are going all in on a two-year repeal and replace later plan. Seven+ years later and DOH! We got nothing!

The Senate must go to a 51 vote majority instead of current 60 votes. Even parts of full Repeal need 60. 8 Dems control Senate. Crazy!

Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump  4h4 hours ago
With only a very small majority, the Republicans in the House & Senate need more victories next year since Dems totally obstruct, no votes!

Why yes Donald, it's called checks and balances, something I know he doesn't favor.

You know, and maybe someone else out there on Atlas can answer this, I'm struggling to remember anything from history that a party in Congress worked on for 7 years and couldn't get it done due to ineptitude. CRA maybe but that was bipartisan and actually passed in the end. Anyone?

Senator Moron of Kansas will vote Yes to repeal

Lol at anyone who thought he cared about his voters

Murkowski says she's "not there yet", so who even knows anymore

Murkowski is a no.

Any word yet from Heller and all the others?

No word yet and it doesn't matter since 3 R's are against it.

Repeal and replace is dead. Any changes to it will have to plugged into the ACA language as it stands.

He hates both Heller and Flake and talked about personally donating $10M to Flake's primary challenger, was just reading this https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-07-17/jeff-flake-becomes-trump-s-big-2018-gamble

I have the utmost respect for McCain and helped out at his HQ in 08 but if he comes back and votes for a MTP after just being diagnosed with brain cancer, it will be the ultimate of ironies. Not Dr. Evil level but pushing it. Maybe he thinks that it will reduce premiums (a lot of senators on the GOP side think this) but everything I have read says that without the mandate, prices will increase due to the basic risk pool math of it.

So going to ask this again (didn't get any takes last time), anyone here think that that this is the GOP tacitly pushing population reduction under the guise of ACA repeal? There is already a hatred of "the poors."

Senator @lisamurkowski of the Great State of Alaska really let the Republicans, and our country, down yesterday. Too bad!

McConnell needs to retire, not just not be Majority Leader anymore but the GOP caucus loves him because he's a good ol' boy.

Graham calls the skinny repeal a "half-assed approach" at the presser, video on CNN. Good on him.

Can someone tell me why the Dems are shooting down good amendments? Pure partisanship or strategy?
