I was originally in the Perez camp, but seeing him on TV on Bill Maher's Real Time showed me he's not a great public speaker plus he's too tied into the establishment Democrats when he makes stupid claims through Twitter about the Berniecrats (like me) on Twitter. Ellison is the best choice because the social narrative of identity politics was taken to the forefront this weekend. Which is why I think having a Female at the top of the ticket is the best choice, but they have to have real policy achievements. The joke about Hillary being the "anointed one" rang so sound to me because Hillary never debated or campaigned on policy, it was name-calling, people don't care about that stuff in Government, we want results.

Trump was an act of desperation for voters who didn't have a voice, but anyone like me (born in the 80's) knows who Trump was in the 90's and early 00's. You have a semblance of a mind knew he's a straight elitist con-artist. People will be in a rude awakening in the next couple years, because Trump is out to line his pockets, no matter the visit from Union leaders etc. He knows how to manipulate which is how he got so rich. The dude had a press conference once promoting Trump-brand steaks and water, like really? Who the hell has ever purchased that garbage? Unless you were at a hotel, and him having gold everywhere with personal property should tell you what kind of man he really is.

A rich dude who's delusional. But, he knows how to strike a cord in the sub-consciousness of people and how to manipulate people against one another. All you have to do is look at his staff right now, he wants them at each-other's throats. Spicer on Saturday was the Bannon part of his staff, while Spicer on Monday was the Kushner part of his staff. Everyone will get a turn, and after the midterm elections expect a lot of "resigning" or "You're Fired" to be going on. Trump is on the thinnest leash of any President because most people who follow know the man he is, but a lot of people went to him out of desperation.

2016 Election was about the Populist revolution in politics, we had a very small voice made big. (such a Trump quote). Bernie was the perfect candidate to go against him, because they had similar messages until you get to the Wall-Street and Socialist aspects of it. More people liked Bernie than anyone for the mere fact he was authentic. We knew Trump wasn't but Hillary wanted to play divide and concur, most Americans are not like that, we just want equal opportunity and actual jobs out there. A true Progressive candidate would've won 2016, no one believes in America for free University college but we believe it should be debt-free so people have a true chance in succeeding, no one in America believes in single-payer healthcare but think the less fortunate should have a public option to compete with the private sector.

America has a great democracy but since Bush was elected, the divide to the extremes got way too big and now we are kind of trending to a Fascist regime but with the laws we have in place we can question everything. That's why Trump's team walks the tightrope they do because they want to have total control but they can't get it because our rights overrule his as a man who governs the country. After his 100 days, we'll see where we're headed. The GOP is just happy to have full control back but they wanted a guy like Rubio or Bush to run away with it because they're so knee-deep in the special interests.

I posted this in a different thread... but thought it would be relevant here as well:

I originally was for Dean (since he was a success in the position before).  Then I thought I would be for Tom Perez...
But I've become convinced that Buttigieg is absolutely the best choice  ... He is always on point & sharp as a tack (and he has the demeanor that allows him to give policy stances without coming across as overly partisan).........He didn't wade into the Hillary/Bernie debate......He's been Hugely successful turning around a failing MidWest City........And Most importantly - I think he has the sheer intellect & capability to successfully put together the infrastructure and game plan in place to allow Dems to win back elections across the country.

Buttigieg just seems to over-achieved & succeed in everything he's ever done

... In High School- he won the JFK Profiles in Courage Essay (writing an essay about Bernie Sanders Courage as an Ind Senator), was Valedictorian & President of his High School.

... Then Graduated with Honors from Harvard & was President of the Harvard Institute of Politics Student Advisory Committee.

... Then went to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar earning a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.

... In addition to serving a stint in Afghanistan, he Was elected Mayor of his home town of South Bend at age 29 (the youngest 100k+ population mayor at the time) ... and has more than succeeded in completely Turning around a failing City (one of the best turnaround city stories in the country).

....I can't see him not being just as successful in the role of DNC Chair & helping Dems start winning elections again.

Seeing Buttigieg, I think he's a perfect 2nd in command like Tulsi Gabbard was. Ellison has his detractors, I was one of them, but I feel he's the choice for right now. Gabbard was brave because she exposed the corruption in the DNC that had it in the bag for Hillary when they should've stepped back and let the primaries really sort out the whole nomination process. She was laughed at or even not heard from but ended up being right at the end. (Which is why she'll have a good 2020 national campaign if she goes for it. She makes political gambles, which so far has worked even her Trump meeting.) Buttigieg has a place in the DNC hierarchy, just like Tim Ryan in Congress, the Democrats know they've ed up especially the Establishment, so they have reached out the far wing of the party because they need to keep a common message.
