Schumer is 65. He has good 20 years in him left. Why would he go any time soon?

Think about it. I never said that he'd leave next year. He will definitely run again. But 72 is pushing it. MAYBE, really big maybe one more, but that's it.

72 is just getting there in the Senate. 92 would be pushing, perhaps, though not impossible.

Ehhh, if Republicans do well next year and it becomes clear that they aren't getting the majority back until at least 2022?

There will always be 2024. What else would he rather do?
