Missed Gov Coumo's briefing.  What was the new number of patients in icu care.

They have 3,000 ICU bed capacity and are modeling 40,000.

New York City is about to go through a very tough time.

honestly the more details I read about this so called stimulus bill
the more disappointing and terrible it sounds

1. NO rent freeze
2. NO student debt forgiveness
3. ONE time payment
4. $1200 per person but If you're unemployed, on SSI, or SSD, it's $0
5. NO money until May
6. Money will be taxed
7. You must make under $75,000 based off your 2018 tax report

they spent 2 trillion dollars yet It looks like very little of it are are going to the people who needed it the most.

It sound like a joke and I do not for 1 second think this going to really do much to boost the economy at all nor will this chump change convince anyone that it ok to go out and spend money again lol. All this really tells me is that at this point the recession is coming and the government is doing very little to soften the blow to your average american. This is a terrible bill and the american people deserve so much better than this

The bill sucks and is mostly a corporate welfare bailout. The unemployment insurance should be done in a separate bill because New York and California alone are going to need a lot of money.

Student debt forgiveness makes very little sense, but the rest of it is awful.

Right now the The Fed is buying completely worthless corporate debt and has commited to buying up to 4.5 trillion. Why can't they buy the student loan debt and refinance it at near zero for student loan borrowers when that amount is less than 2 trillion? At the very least why can't they do that? Before we even get into debt forgiveness, this would offer tremendous relief.

The average student loan interest rate for all borrowing household holding student loan debt is 5.8%, that is highway robbery when the United States government is lending everybody else money near zero.

This bill is an insult, I hope House Democrats blow it up.

The fact Italy is not doubling after x numbers of days and appears to be flatlining could be a very good sign. They have to reach a plateau before they start trending down.

Spain is using an ice skating rink as a morgue because the regular morgue is way beyond normal capacity.

I hope Bernie's call spurs momentum and more Democrats join him into sinking this awful bill.

This is a pandemic, why are people still confused about this?

712 more deaths in Italy. Just an awful number but still in the plateau phase of their trend line.

Italy has to have a way higher number of people infected than tested because their deaths are astronomical even accounting for the elderly population.

NJ just had a surge of positive cases +2500 and found COVID-19 had infiltrated a lot of elderly care facilities, one in particular had to be shutdown after 3 deaths and 25 positive cases.

NYC just had more EMS calls than any day since 9/11. They're setting up makeshift morgues again something not done since 9/11.

I love how armchair pundits in this thread keep minimizing it and yet hospital doctors from China to Europe and now NYC are telling you prepare because this is like nothing they've ever experienced, so no it's not "like the flu" or they would have experienced it every year.

Where has Trump built these Hospitals?

I know the Army Corps of Engineers is installing tents for overflow and morgues and planning to re-purpose hotels for logistics but where are these hospitals Trump has built?

Yeah the data is unreliable because every country is using their own metric for what a Covid-19 death is. Nothing has been standardized yet, it will be very easy to tell afterwards when we get public records of deaths and compare them to previous years.

Of those who get Covid-19 and survive some will get irreversible damage to their organs that will compromise quality of life for years going forward. People should really top saying ignorant things. It is best to never get this virus at all.

+919 deaths in Italy, a significant jump from their trend line which seemed like it was plateauing and the highest daily total for this country and anywhere since the pandemic started.

When I was a kid I thought America was the greatest country and the year 2020 would be the future with incredibly technology and amazing human achievements.

2020 sucks, the American government looks totally incompetent, all over the world voters have embraced regressive governments with an eye towards the past.

I hope when we move past this the world will embrace science, competent governance, and progress with a move away from this trend of xenophobic hate for "the other", that actually does nothing at all to protect you at the end of the day.

America is still by far the most powerful and advanced country in the world, and the world's sole superpower.

Some superpower, that can't even give masks, scrubs, and gloves to its Doctors and Nurses in the biggest health crisis of our lifetime. What a joke.

We're likely to pass China in deaths in the next 3-5 days. There are some encouraging trials with  convalescent plasma therapy, hopefully that pans out.

Imagine telling someone at Hillary's election night party at the Javits Center in 2016 that, 3.5 years later, not only would Trump be President, but that the place where they were standing would be a makeshift overflow hospital because of the huge number of illnesses and deaths across New York.

Yeah, that's crazy to think about.

Our death total will pass China in the next 2 to 4 days. They have roughly 4.25 times our population and the pandemic started over there. That is a tremendous failure any way you look at it.

American and UK intelligence knew what was going on with China and reported to both Trump and Boris Johnson. So why were their reports not treated more seriously? Why wasn't a pre-emptive strategy and preparation put in place?
