Israel now requires 14-day quarantines to anyone coming back from the following countries: China, South Korea, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, and the newest additions- Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland and Austria. The latter have been kinda bizarre as the outbreaks there aren't more significant than Israel (16th patient diagnosed today- think about population sizes).

Personally, I have a flight to London in Monday (9.3) and as England reached 115 cases, I'm scared and worried that it'll be inevitably added to the quarantine list. That would mean missing two weeks of work (I can work around it as I accumulated 14 days of sick leave in my two years) and the *first* two weeks of the semester (pretty annoying since these are all new courses). Hopefully it calms down over there but I'm not optimistic.

My 92-year old grandma is in the hospital with pneumonia. Fortunately, she's living in Saxony-Anhalt, the only state which continues to be the only one without any confirmed infections so far.

I hope she recovers easily!

According to this French journalist in Hong Kong, Asia managed to contain the virus NOT THROUGH LOCKDOWN but THROUGH WEARING MASKS.

The question is- is this a correlation or causation? Imo Asia's biggest tool (ie Taiwan and SK) was mass testing.

Israel seems to be experiencing the start of the second wave. We went from a daily increase of 5 cases in the beginning of the week to an increase of over 70 yesterday and over 100 today. A lot of it is speculated to be the result of a school where an outbreak happened, so some of the opening up is likely to be rolled back.

Israel seems to be experiencing the start of the second wave. We went from a daily increase of 5 cases in the beginning of the week to an increase of over 70 yesterday and over 100 today. Today our increase was just 25, a sharp reduction. Turns out that most of the new cases (78 of them) were from a school where there was a breakout. Still, considering these students and teachers have families, this needs to be followed closely and cautiously.
