I don't support the proposed amendment too.

If anything, this would eliminate some work for the whip / party chair or the one in charge for running the election of manually checking who is eligible and secondly removes some work for the election administrator.

There is already a limit for ppl who need to have 15 posts to register, which doesn't sound a lot, but for some it's hard. Yes, that doesn't apply to people who return to the game or have been active elsewhere on the forum, but it is already a hard limit for registration and one cannot immediately register and vote.

If people aren't interested or aren't online on the forum anymore, the whip usually has no means to reach them to make people vote. If someone is disinterested, they can deregister or simply not vote.

In a way our current system feels a bit like tax suffrage which was a system Belgium had for a long time, and led to revolts. In some way, i even feel people who aren't registered in the game should be eligible to vote. A forum account should be enough and a certain flat post lower limit. We need to advocate and defend true and universal democracy and move away from particracy or selective democracy.

GROW DEMOCRACY ACT

1. The Federal Electoral Act of 2019 shall be amended as follows:

Section 4. Voter Eligibility

1. A registered voter shall only be eligible to vote in a federal election if they have been registered continuously for at least one hundred and sixty-eight hours immediately prior to the commencement of the election.

2. A registered voter shall only be eligible to vote in a federal election if they have made at least eight posts from their account in the fifty six days (eight weeks) immediately prior to the commencement of the election.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.
