L10.22.4 Lincoln Election Holiday ActIs this act taken into account with regards to debating and voting for this act? And if so, wouldn't it be a better idea to propose an amendment to this act?
Lincoln Election Holiday Act
1. Election days in Lincoln are to be recognized as regional holidays.
2. All voters are to be allowed time off from their jobs to vote.
3. The act takes effect during the next scheduled Lincoln election.
Section 2--Recognition of Statewide Holidays
1. Will recognize May Day & Election Day as state holidays with state workers being given the day off.
Given that "to be allowed time off from their jobs to vote" differs from "being given the day off", and since this act also discusses making May Day a holiday.
Perhaps it is a better idea to add an amendment to the current act to overwrite the former act, given I agree more with "given the day off" instead of "being allowed time off to vote" and making May Day a holiday too. The big change would be that people without intention to vote would also have a holiday.
I'm however not sure whether state workers means all workers from the state, i would change that to workers with a residence in Lincoln, also to avoid people working outside of Lincoln not having a holiday if they have to vote in Lincoln.
