Damn, poor Walz. Giving up a vulnerable House seat when there were no good candidates for Governor, and then Swanson jumps in and makes a mess with the Ellison/Omar situation.
On the other hand, Swanson had been visibly angling for the Governor’s office for a while. Swanson entering wasn’t a huge surprise, people had been speculating that she would forego the convention altogether if she did run for Governor, given that the party activists hate her.
I guess she smelled blood in the water when Walz lost the DFL nomination, and sensed that he was vulnerable enough for her to jump in & win.
