wth.....why would haley agree to that? (and i think that takes her out from presidential runs for 1 or 2 cycles) she is easily the biggest patriot in that administration.

She was already out for 2020, since she isn't going to primary Trump, but I don't see how this impacts her chances of running in 2024 one way or ther other.

i absolutely could be wrong on that, since my knowledge about the US is still limited, but is there some kind of precedent for someone getting appointed to a - kind of -  international non-partisan top job and them comes back to run for higher office?

maybe i misjudge the "ambassador" role here if someone like bolton was appointed to do that job before.

thanks, morden, i should have more specifically asked for a successful bid of such a candidate (i guess accepting the ambassadorship from obama even harmed his candidacy) but i agree now that it would be possible.

btw......next romney bash from an early trump backer:

there must be some kind of "golden rule" regarding the porportional distribution of top gigs to nut-jobs and serious conservatives in this administration.

i think christie would be a "traditional" candidate without his baggage.

but in this case kushner is clearly a voice of reason.

i don't see the point in damaging romney if he is going to become trump's voice to the world.

maybe only a wink to trump's voters that defiance comes with a price?

1) trump's cabinet CAN'T be blocked anyway.

2) i am pretty sure heitkamp wouldn't do anything without talking it over with schumer.
