Conservatives are not really pro-police.
Conservatives were upset and confused why the Capitol Hill police didn't support their insurrection - they had assumed the police would naturally be on their side. Throughout the skirmishes, the insurrectionists frequently encountered the police and attempted to convince them to join their side; they became violent with the police when they realized that they weren't changing sides. It was an insight into their worldview that they assume the police are on their side and that they'd only remain loyal to the government out of fear or ignorance.
