Bridgeport (CT) Mayoral D primary overturned - new election ordered

In case you guys missed it, a judge for the Superior Court of Connecticut has found for the plaintiff in a BIG election fraud case. 

On Wednesday, Judge William Clark determined that due to mishandling of ballots, the result of a recent primary for mayor of Bridgeport CT is in "serious doubt", and that the Court is "unable to determine the legitimate result".  Thus, he has ordered that a new primary be held.

Here's the somewhat complicated part of this. 

The General Election for mayor is on November 7th; there is a possibility that plaintiff and challenger John Gomes will win that race.  If he does, no new primary will be needed, and Gomes will become the next mayor of Bridgeport; his lawyer says he'll withdraw the case. 

If incumbent mayor Joe Ganim should win the general election, the new primary will become necessary.  It's a bit unclear as to what would happen then. 


According to the CT Mirror, if Ganim were to win the new primary, he would be re-elected as mayor.  However, if Gomes were to win the primary, ANOTHER mayoral election would need to be held, according to the source (https://ctmirror.org/2023/11/01/bridgeport-primary-election-ruling-ganim-gomes/).


Anywho, things are a little bit weird right now in Connecticut's largest city.  Thoughts, anyone?

Since these details were left out, video of two individuals stuffing ballot boxes provided by Gomes. For the rules regarding absentee ballots in Connecticut that's not kosher that they be handed to these individuals to do this as they are not qualified to receive them. Gomes lost by 250 votes where the absentee ballots put Ganim over the top. Gomes is running as an Independent against Ganim in Tuesday's election. The two individuals, one is the vice chair of the Bridgeport Democratic Town Committee and works for the city and the other is a former city councilwoman, pleaded the 5th when asked what they were doing in the videos at a hearing.

In the context of this case, it's very obvious that they were committing voter fraud rather than merely committing a technical violation of Connecticut law on the delivery of absentee ballots. For example, the two districts they were reported to have delivered absentee ballots in had much higher absentee voter turnout than the other districts.

Hopefully Bridgeport just rejects the fraudster and is done with the whole episode.

Meanwhile, the Democrats in this state continue to claim that there's no evidence to prove the charges.  I'm even hearing rumors of a possible appeal.

Well, it appears that a November 17th primary will now be necessary, as Mayor Ganim has won in the General by 174 votes.

And what put him over the top? You guessed it...

...ABSENTEE BALLOTS (as well as a Ganim-reported "tabulation error"). 

I hate to say it, but I think Bridgeport just got "Bridgeported".  That is, "second verse, same as the first".
