@ OP: I get your frustration with AOC and her TwitterTantrum/poor messaging as much as anyone on Atlas, but she is not the enemy. I’ve always said these sorts of inter-party disputes should be thought of as a family feud b/c we’re all on the same team at the end of the day. But guess what? If you go around calling the folks on your team “the enemy,” they’re gonna think of you the same way. Like it or not - I certainly don’t
- AOC is an inspirational figure to an important segment of our party. I’m not saying her TwitterTantrums should be rewarded or that GOTFan isn’t wildly overreacting, but we should be having these debates in a respectful, good-faith, and thoughtful manner.
At the end of the day, we’re a big-tent party and we all need each other to win, much less get anything done. The only ones who benefit from TwitterTantrum rants about “muh evulz moderates” or moderates treating Berniecrats like they’re some sort of fifth column are the real enemy: authoritarian-coddling, corporatist right-wing reactionaries like McConnell and the far right SCOTUS majority. The stakes are too high to waste time on BS name-calling every time another Democrat says something annoying. And that goes just as much for folks like GOTFan as it does for OP.
