Of course, all of what Axelrod says about her is true, especially the part about her failure to articulate a reason for her candidacy's existence beyond her personal ambition (which isn't a good enough reason in-and-of-itself).  Despite what IceSpear will probably claim, no one really knows what "Ready for Hillary" means beyond the fact that Hillary Clinton is still trying to become President.  She's going to have to answer that question sooner or later whether she likes it or not.  Just look at Ted Kennedy's interview with Mudd in 1980 for an example of what happens when a Presidential candidate is unable to answer that question.

What reason beyond wanting to be President does somebody need to run for President?

None, but it would be helpful to articulate how you are going to change things if you become President.

In the preliminary stages before she has even formed an exploratory committee? That's an absurd demand. A policy platform to deliver to the voters is something that is months away, not now.

He didn't say a policy platform Roll Eyes  And it isn't like she was able to articulate a reason beyond her own ambition in 2008.  She had a whole primary season to do that and failed miserably.

I mean sure, if everyone was as sane as the people in this thread, she wouldn't need a rationale for running.

But her lack of a strong rationale for running (in contrast to Edwards' "two americas" or Obama's "hope and change") in '08 pretty much fed into every negative stereotype of her imaginable. I think this is what Axelrod means.
