The officers were fired and it is being handled by the FBI. This seems to be being handled appropriately so far. This isn't a western, we have a legal system, after a killing you shouldn't just hang the perpetrator at dawn.

Destroying buildings that provide people with vital supplies now when they are scarce isn't going to bring Floyd or anyone else back to life. It's also pretty glaring that people on the far left who were calling people "murderers" for not following social distancing regulations are now completely fine with this.

From the description 3rd degree murder sounds exactly right for this. A defense attorney could easily create doubt as to whether it was premeditated and then he would walk.

On another note he was arrested within a few days. He was not a particular threat to flee so there was no need to do it earlier. You don't get to complain about prisons being overcrowded if you think every single murder suspect should get immediately arrested before they've even been indicted. This is being handled more or less appropriately so far and everyone is just overreacting to every single detail.

OK, America.

This was bad. The killer got arrested and charged with murder.

Now it’s time to focus on Coronavirus again, which kills 1.500 Americans per day.

Can't social distance when you've gotta rob those ATM's and light your own city on fire.

thinking about going to the protest in Nashville today. f the cops.

Be sure to burn a Little Caesar's on my behalf while you're down there.
papa johns is worse

Papa John's is the best.  I can't think of any national pizza chain that's as good as Papa John's.

IDK, but you should always eat local pizza anyway. Everywhere in America has good pizzerias. No need to get the Papa Johns/Dominos drek.

No violence is justified, obviously.

I do wonder if there would be less violent protesting in major cities if the country weren’t locked down for 2 months (and were fed fear mongering lies)?
Nope. There'd be MORE protesting (violent AND non-violent) because right now some are staying home so they can social distance.

Are you sure? I heard if you wear a facemask while committing arson or looting no one can get hurt so I think they're good to go.

There's pretty much no response to this. I think it's narcissism more than a lack of sincerity. When they want to stay home then everyone has to stay home, but the second something they think is important happens then it's okay to go out again. Morality determined 100% by their personal wishes and not any objective standard.

So do I have this right, he's being charged with 2nd degree murder in addition to 3rd degree murder? I've read some articles that say the charge has been "upgraded" and others that say he's being charged with both. I didn't think you could charge someone with two different degrees of murder for the same killing, but Minnesota's murder laws appear to be somewhat funky.

The jury can convicted of multiple counts, but under a Doctrine called merger the prosecution sentencing has to choose which particular account they were convicted up on which the defendant would be sentenced - - of course presumably the most serious count - - rather than him being sentenced on each individual charge.

Alright, that makes sense, none of the news articles I'd seen actually explained how it was going to work.

I was a little worried because 2nd degree murder sounds like a tough nut to crack but I think he will be convicted of 3rd degree murder.

This is peak Fox News. Don't think they can get any Foxier than that. This belongs on "NotTheOnion".
