She's been a great activist on LGBT rights for a long time, I like her a lot. Plus, Cuomo has to go!

Nixon's lack of "qualifications" is a nonfactor. Frankly, there are activists like Nixon that would make far better politicians than many current officeholders. If she has good policies, which she does and Cuomo does not, then she would have my vote. Should we penalize all the veterans running for Congress as Democrats because they didn't occupy a State House/State Senate seat beforehand?

Having these qualifications is purely meritocracy. It's ludicrous to think that politics is a skill you need to learn, because it frames it as a managerial issue rather than an issue of policy, aims and values. Any Governor or President will have advisors anyways. In any case, Cuomo would be considered a "qualified" governor because of his time at HUD and being the state's top attorney, but he's run NY into the ground (don't believe me, take a ride on the NYC subway).

You know, I'm highly tempted to replace she with he, Cuomo with Clinton, and Nixon with Trump and just repost the argument. If you did though, you would realize how weak this argument is though.
But the problem with Trump isn't his lack of experience, it's his ideology and temperament.

Well, that escalated quickly.

lol she's still bitter over the 2013 primary. "Cynthia Nixon was opposed to having a qualified lesbian become mayor of New York City."

If Quinn hadn't been so uncritical of Bloomberg and his agenda she might have gotten Nixon's endorsement, and might even be mayor now!

I wonder if Cuomo will bring back his dad's famous "Vote for Cuomo, Not the Homo" rallying cry from 1977.

MFW Cynthia Nixon is campaigning against Mario Cuomo's son in New York by attacking "rich whites."

Once again she is not calling to punish rich whites. She is calling for no one to be punished for something that it's ridiculous is illegal.
Seriously, people are having the weirdest reactions to this.

I don't really hold it against the unions, although of course I would prefer them to stand up to Cuomo. The union bosses know that Cuomo is a vindictive control-freak and WILL retaliate, if he wins, against those who opposed him. The safe bet is him winning a 3rd term, so they are protecting themselves accordingly.

On another note, I was thinking about it earlier and Nixon should have at least some ability to self-fund if necessary. A quick google search shows her estimated net worth to be around $60 million, although who knows how accurate those celebrity net worth estimations actually are. She won't be able to match Cuomo's money but she should be able to get her message out, both through media coverage and campaign funds, neither of which Teachout had access to in 2014.

Buffalo Chronicle - Cuomo considering dropping out and allowing Nixon to have the nomination, to preserve his reputation for a 2020 Presidential campaign, as a worst-case scenario

https://buffalochronicle.com/2018/04/24/cuomo-considering-options-in-a-worst-case-scenario/
The fact that he thinks he has any chance at all in 2020 proves he is insanely out of touch with reality.

Voted for the left slate. Not optimistic about their chances, but it felt good to vote against Cuomo and his crew.
