Am I missing something? This doesn't look even close to passing to me. Why does everybody suddenly assume it's a done deal?

I guess because, at least in theory, Republicans technically have the numbers to make it work, if leadership could strong-arm their caucus into doing it anyhow. That alone is pretty scary, but like you said, in reality this has little chance of passing. It's why it perplexes me why the House GOP is trying to so hard to pass a bill that will only put their members on record as voting for a bill the country hates. It's political suicide, yet somehow they've convinced themselves it's not.

Without some sort of miracle, this will never get past the Senate, at least with it's current makeup. They are smart enough to understand the blowback they will receive from kicking millions off Medicaid + other insurance plans.

There could be multiple reasons why:

A. Paul Ryan wants a "win" on healthcare under his belt  and wants to hand this problem off to McConnell where he knows it will die in the Senate.

B. They're more afraid of the backlash from the right than they are from the left.

C. Paul Ryan wants his tax cuts and truly believes in the bill

D. Pressure from the White House

Ok, I guess it passes and then if it dies in the Senate, all the moderate reps say they were shocked when the CBO score came out and showed later it was a bad bill.

You forgot the part where those "moderates" get voted out in 2018.

i love it, how all the criticism about Ocare is coming back with a grudge and all faults are repeated in even worse ways.

who is pushing this madness?

Trump, Ryan, and the Freedom Caucus.

The Tuesday Group is made up of a bunch of spineless cowards. Republicans will pay in 2018.

Leigh Ann Caldwell @LACaldwellDC
A Source leaving whip Scalise's office predicts it passes with 217 leaving no margin of error #gophealthcare

So it will pass by 1 vote?

The vast majority of hard working American middle class families will pay less - that's the only thing that really cares and the reason why I can only smile when reading how bad this will be for the GOP in 2018. Forget about it. Obamacare is a failure, everyone knows it, even Dems in the Debate had to aknowledge that. Opposition to AHCA is only based to the typical media and Dem #FakeNews and hyperboles. As soon as the vast majority of people is seeing that they save money and are better off, the approval will get over 50%.

And now pass that bill! With a bit more than 1 vote...

2015: Trump won't win the primary
2016: Trump won't win New Hampshire
2016: Trump has a ceiling
2016: BluewallBluewallBluewallBluewallBluewall
2016: Waaaaah!
2017: This bill won't pass the House.
2017: This bill won't pass the Senate.

Hmmm.....

This is like the definition of #analysis
