Y'all really need to breathe though. The Wisconsin Supreme Court will have next to no impact on your life unless you happen to live in the state of Wisconsin. Which at least 90% of Atlas does not.

Means that both houses of WI legislature are Safe R until 2033 - another 14 years before anything progressive can be passed in the state.

Is Evers not involved in the mapmaking? Pretty sure the WI GOP is one seat short of a veto-proof majority in the senate.

The weird thing is in this day in and age this is for sure a winning map in WI.

Yeah, but Hagedorn really overperformed in the Milwaukee suburbs/WOW counties + Dem underperformance in Milwaukee County.

Pretty typical for a spring election without an incumbent. Milwaukee doesn't care unless you make them care.

I still don’t get how Hagedorn was able to win this when Rebecca Dallet won her race in a blowout.

I'm guessing that the anti-Walker mood was already building in WI, and the national GOP was toxic in 2018. This year, Walker is gone and the GOP as a party is not as toxic

But Hagedorn was a terrible candidate with a history of toxic positions and lost the support of a lot of groups that tend to back conservative justices. The takeaway is that nobody is too extreme for the Republican base if they actually come out to vote.

If you want to see the current conservative agenda in Wisconsin go look at the Fox 6 Milwaukee FB page and comments on the story about the state removing the words "mental retardation". It's totally not surprising at all but to boil it down it's "libtards" "Evers/liberals are retarded" and "are they offended".

Yes, the conservative agenda is what a few people write on a Facebook page.

Nowadays? Yes, pretty much.

Just how long do the Walker appointees get to stick around for anyway?

Wow, so Senator Risser is apparently the longest serving state legislator in American history.

Also, I sure as hell hope I look that good if I reach 92 years of age. He can easily pass for being in his 70s.

Okay, this is feeling like the opposite of last year's race based on what's already being reported. Kelly has way more of his base votes in and isn't getting the margins he needs out of them anyway. I think Karofsky is the favorite at this point.

The remaining 10 or 11 percent is going to be pretty Democratic, so Karofsky's margin will continue to grow. Wouldn't be surprised if she runs away with a 9 point or 10 point win.

Only 300 precincts left and a third of them are in Dane County.

Outagamie has all come in, it's also a Karofsky win.

200 precincts left, 85 of them in Dane County, and we're at Karfosky +8.2.

Thank God!!!!

BTW, is Kelly from racine or something?

No, it's just a really tough nut to crack, especially in non-general elections. Even Dallet barely failed to win it in her 11 point romp back in 2018.

Karofsky now has above a 150k raw vote margin.

Still 31 precincts to go in Dane County.

It looks like the state supreme court is going to throw out Governor Evers' current coronavirus public health orders, either 5/2 or 4/3.  Hagedorn seemed undecided, maybe mildly supporting the governor/public health office.  The other 4 conservatives all seemed adamantly opposed.  One even compared it to Korematsu.

Aren't there now three Democrats since we just picked up a WI SC seat?  If Hagedorn also ends up supporting it then that would be 4-3 in favor of the public health orders, no?

Term starts July 1st.

Yeah, lame duck period unfortunately. No reason there couldn't be instant replacement.

On a separate note, I believe Hagedorn was considered particularly out there conservative when he won?  He's turning out to be the most moderate of the conservative block on several issues.

His personal views are atrocious, but yes, it's turned out to be quite a surprise.
