August 2019 Elections Tracker

LINK TO TRACKER SPREADSHEET

Last vote counted (sheet): Bacon King
Last vote counted (maps): Bacon King
Invalid votes: Koopa (deleted), wolfentoad (posted senate ballot), nerdfighter (posted twice for house), Blairite (two first preferences so ballot is ambiguous), Poirot (all of the above), l.a.daboss,(House, not enough posts)

The August elections for House of Representatives, Fremont Class II Senate, Lincoln Class II Senate, and Southern Class II Senate will take place from Friday, August 23, 2019 through Sunday, August 25, 2019. In addition, due to the May snap election for Fremont Parliament/First Minister, the regularly scheduled election for those positions is being held this weekend as well, with 5 candidates competing for 4 seats and Scott running unopposed for FM.

I'm extremely busy with RL stuff right now and honestly I wasn't even sure if I would make a tracker this election, so I'm not doing the preference tracker with avatars that I did for the Southern/Lincoln legislative races. I'm also not doing a map for Fremont FM, since it's both the only executive election this weekend and is unopposed. Updates to the maps and spreadsheet will occur as soon as it is humanly possible for me to update and upload them, but it may take longer than usual. If the maps are out of date, check the spreadsheet; that will be updated first. The spreadsheet will contain full House and Parliament preference data, as well as crosstabs and turnout data for the major parties and larger third parties, and will also contain sheets for the senate elections. My sleep schedule is screwed up because of night research for the past few weeks so I can't really say when 'dead periods' for updates are most likely to occur.

Around a month ago, I finally found time to combine the PR/UK maps with the US map in a way that is easily editable in paint (without having to color both in separately). So they will be colored instead of grey now, at least. Tongue

These are beautiful, Encke!

Though shouldn't those empty Southern states be red, as Labor currently has a plurality in the South?

I'm counting Lab+Pax and ACP+Fed together for map purposes, mostly cause it's pretty clear what the 'major party slates' are this time around.

End of Day 1 Update. Quota is currently 6; only four candidates (fhtagn, JGibson, MB, Poirot) are above the quota at the moment. Lincoln referendum is 15 Aye, 5 Nay.

Turnout for the House race sits at 20.8%. By comparison, turnout was already at 38% by the same time in June.

End of Day 2 Update.

Turnout continues to be low, at 30.7%; the highest turnout in any of the regional races is 36% in Lincoln. At the end of the second day during the April midterms, turnout was at 38% in the house race.
The quota is currently at 9, with 5 candidates at or above (fhtagn, Poirot, gibson, MB, and razze).
