9/11 indeed resulted in President Bush overperforming in New York and New Jersey as he has got to 40% of vote in New York and getting 46% of the vote in state of NJ;

The moreover that a week after the 2004 Republican National Convention that was held in New York City Bush was trailing in New York by just seven percentage points and Bush was leading Kerry by 4 in New Jersey especially due to Security Moms¸
