Poll after poll shows Obama doing better than McCain, crushing him in a number of supposed swing states. Obama is young and inspiring. McCain is old and negative. The economy is plumetting and McCain has tied himself to an unpopular war.

What exactly does McCain have to run on? 60%+ of the country wants us out of Iraq within a year, the economy is slipping into recession, 47 million people without healthcare, etc. The guy has nothing going for him, and it doesn't help that Obama is 25 years younger and the most charismatic Democratic candidate since JFK.

Obama is a good speaker, but is an empty head in an empty suit.

The guy was at the top of his class at Harvard Law and was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is the most naturally intelligent candidate on either side.

Desire for universal healthcare is mainstream?

Absolutely.

On the wealthiest top few percent, yes. Especially in a time of recession and a big deficit. And Obama is proposing a middle class tax cut so that will help as well.

61% of the country wants us out of Iraq within a year. The Obama plan gradually withdraws our troops over the span of 16 months. McCain says no end in sight and the possiblity of another 100 years in Iraq.

The Republicans on this board are stuck in a 2002/2004 mindset.

Public opinion has changed drasticlly over the past 3-4 years, Bush has gotten incredibly unpopular since 2004 (as has the Iraq War), we are slipping into recession, and there is a lot of Republican fatigue at this point.

And your are stuck in the thought process that the Dems will landslide no matter what.

I never said that, but I definitely expect Obama to beat McCain.

Obama wins all the Kerry states + Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, and probably Missouri.  Florida is possible but unlikely.

Oh Please. I'll give you Colorado, Iowa and Nevada, but Ohio and Virginia as sure bets? Probably Missouri? And, of course, McCain has no chance at any blue states. I can't believe I am the hack! This is outrageous...

Dude, we're in 2008, not 2004. Things have actually changed over the past four years.

No,he could win them all, but to claim today, 9 months from the election, that he will carry all of those states, it's ridicules.

Most of your maps have been ridiculous, yet I've kept my mouth shut about them.

We won the Iraq War back in 2003 when we captured Saddam. What we have now is an occupation that isn't really helping to accomplish anything.

How is raising the minimum wage going to help anyone.

We actually just raised the minimum wage last year. What Obama is talking about it tieing it to inflation.

We raised the minimum wage . . . and now we're in a recession?

Good lord, try not to be such a complete hack.

Sorry but the truth is that there are still plenty of people here that will be wary of voting for a black man. Should it be that way? No. Is it that way? Yes.

He's also inexperienced and an amatuer. Kerry wasn't.
