My numbers are correct. I said real compensation (wages + benefits), whereas people who are too dumb to understand basic economics just look wages, and don't realize the decline there is part of a trend whereby, since the 1960s, fringe benefits have become an increasingly large share of pay.

Single-payer health care is socialism, and like most products of socialism, the quality sucks. Moreover, you would lift the cap on the payroll tax while increasing the burden to about 25%, and then raise the top income tax rate to 40%, for a combined top marginal rate of 65%.
