Lee was morally against slavery and opposed secession. He fought for his State.

That makes him even worse. He believed what he was doing was morally wrong but he did it anyway.

No, he was morally against slavery. He opposed secession, but didn't think it was morally wrong.

What cause? The war was not over slavery, it was over whether or not the State could be dissolved.

Going by your logic, the president should only enforce federal laws he supports, because otherwise, he's a "coward."

Yeah, well legislatures can pass laws you don't like, but if your a police officer, you enforce them. He opposed secession, but he was loyal to his State, and I'm sure he believed they had the right to secede.

How about the federal income tax? If I enforced it, would I be a coward for following the law?
