Eraser, if I were in a situation like his a change of scenery would probably be a much needed benefit. He should move to a completely different place in the country and start over.

I sure wish I could.

Why do you oppose it? You're a parent, as your daughter gets older and starts dealing with other kids, wouldn't you want to know the most you can about what she's going through and how you can best help her and reach her in a way she'll listen to? (Not saying your daughter has Asperger's, just describing the value of understanding why kids behave the way they do rather than just saying it's all normal one way or the other.)

My point, badly worded, was that I believe these things are over diagnosed these days. I don't disagree with you that such disorders exist my point is that doctors push these things as the answer to much and some have ulterior motives (drugs).

The kids I counselled and taught in Philadelphia three years ago who had Aspergers were definite cases of it.  I agree there can be an over-diagnosis, but that shouldn't discount the validity of the genuine cases of Aspergers.  Same goes with ADD/ADHD.

A little update:  I think things are going to start settling down in my neck of the woods shortly after I return home tomorrow evening.  Once I find a regular job, which I've been going to at least one or two interviews a day for, things will really begin to settle down.  I can see myself having a regular job by September 1.  August may remain relatively volatile, but I can see September being a much calmer month and then further stabilizing in October and the late months of 2010.

Oh, stay tuned ... there's more to come:

Facebook status at 12:35 CT on 8/14/10: came back to OKC early today after hearing the awful news about my girlfriend. She was taken by ambulance to OUMC on Friday complaining of symptoms of a stroke. She is home now and they have determined it was Bell's Palsy. Please pray for her. She is going through a really tough month and it just keeps building on her.

My thoughts are with her and her family.

I'm going to put off the break up for a little while until she's recovered.  I'm afraid much more stress will kill her or put her in a mental ward for a time.  I don't want either of those for her.  I still plan to break up with her, but I'm going to wait on that so she can ease out of her current stress.

Not yet.  I do plan on it, but I haven't quite yet.  I've ceased making any wedding plans.

When I do call it off with her, I will lay low at least for the rest of 2010 before I start actively looking.  Now, if one comes along before then, then I'll try not to be blind to her, but I'm going to wait at least until 2011.  I am 20 months away from my 30th birthday, and I am going to try to wait until I enter the new decade of my life before I tie the knot with anybody.

This is like the season finale of a TV show, where at the 45 minute mark everything seems to be wrapped up nicely and all our characters are ready to move on from the troubles of the past year, when suddenly one of the characters we forgot about from earlier in the season comes back out of nowhere and the season ends on a twist cliff-hanger.

Of course, with the BushOklahoma Show, there are luckily no commercials and no summer hiatuses.

And, the show and the season just won't end.

Someone earlier likened to a "choose your own adventure book".  I liken it to the song "This is the song that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friend..." (I'm going to spare you the rest of the lyrics, because if you're like me just reading those words the song will get stuck in your head.)

One year ago this next Saturday, August 21 at 3:00 pm CDT, I will officially begin my second year in this house.  I finished signing the closing documents and was handed the keys at 3:00.  As you know, it's been a rough, but a good year overall.

I hope to have at least a few more years in this house.  While I don't have a regular job right now, I do hope to have one by September 1.  There is a chance I could go to sleep this Tuesday night with a job.  I have an interview at a car dealership this Tuesday morning about 11:00.  They say they offer a base salary, and before I sign anything, I'm going to get that IN WRITING.  What is this forum's opinions of working for car dealerships?  I'm interested in hearing your opines over the next 2 1/2 days.

If you get a job as a car salesman, take it, but don't quit looking for jobs that match your skill set.  Obviously getting a job at a company where Google doesn't autocomplete the word "scam" for you after typing it into the search engine is a major upgrade, regardless.

The market is bad and I don't know how much you know/care about cars or people to convince people to buy cars they don't want or need.

That's a good idea and will definitely take that to mind.  I want to hear more opinions, though!!

Per wikipedia, Bell's palsy, seems to be associated with first contracting the herpes virus, and then stress. Well, the stress bit I guess we all knew about. And so it goes.

"Some viruses are thought to establish a persistent (or latent) infection without symptoms, e.g. the Zoster virus of the face[4]  and Epstein-Barr viruses, both of the herpes family. Reactivation of an existing (dormant) viral infection has been suggested[5]  as cause behind the acute Bell's palsy. Studies[6]  suggest that this new activation could be preceded by trauma, environmental factors, and metabolic or emotional disorders, thus suggesting that stress - emotional stress, environmental stress (e.g. cold), physical stress (e.g. trauma) - in short, a host of different conditions, may trigger reactivation."

Yeah, I looked it up on Web MD earlier about the herpes virus that causes cold sores.  I also believed it had to be stress related, although when we talked this last Tuesday, she sounded a lot calmer, but I guess the outside appearances can be deceiving.  If Bell's Palsy starts out being mistaken for a stroke, and a stroke is partly caused by stress, then I just put two and two together considering what she's been through really since middle July.

Oooooooooops.

It's the cold sore type herpes per Web MD, so no need to be alarmed..

And secondly, even if you are good at "sales," do you have any interest whatsoever in the product that you'll be selling?

Indeed.  While anything, even if they fire you in two weeks, is better than AmeriPlan, when it comes down to sales, it seems to me like you have to either love your product or be manipulative to be able to market it well.

I think I can be a good salesman.  It'll be tough, but if I just follow their system, I should be alright.  I also need to focus on what will best meet my customer's needs.  I'm kind of looking forward to it.  Like I said, I'm going to get the base salary in writing as well as what I have to do to just get that.  We'll see, though.  Their website also says they offer the standard benefits, Medical, Dental, 401(k) with match, and paid holidays and paid vacation.  I'm going to make sure I get that in writing as well.

Don't you have Tourette's? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes, I do have Tourette's, though it is very minimal right now.  I have a slight speech impediment in stressful situations, but when I'm focused and relaxed at the same time, I do fine.  It's when I'm not focused that i have problems.  i actually think that might be an advantage for me as the customers might see me as someone who has a handicap just like many of them, and might be willing to listen to be a little more.

So BushOklahoma was a Jamespol sock all along!

And with that, Jamespol takes the title of greatest troll in the history of the forum! Bravo, bravo!

We'll soon locate the photos of BushOK, Susan, his brother, and most of his Facebook friends on a stock photo site.

I can guarantee that I'm not his sock.  For one, we have completely different IPs, completely different posting styles, different political views.  We do talk on Yahoo IM every evening and he just gave me texaslefty's address and we hooked up for lunch on Friday.

Tomorrow, I've got a full plate on tap.

I'm going to call a few different places first thing tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

The first one is a water analyzer - Here is what the ad in the Sunday paper says: $2500/month base plus bonuses. Local OKC water filtration company expanding water analyst department.  Seeking career-minded individuals, no experience necessary, will train.  Good communication skills & customer service experience a plus. Call for personal interview Monday only.

Another (again recopying the ad) is a full time permanent career opportunity for a locally owned and operated company expanding in Oklahoma City and has several different positions available in different departments - Setup/Display, Customer Service, Management Trainee.  It says they offer excellent advancements, bonuses, and the positions are full time (40+ hours). Must be neat in appearance and willing to start immediately. Call today and start tomorrow. $300-$500 week.

Yet, a third one says, HS Seniors & GRADS (non-traditional). Get a great full-time job.  Good pay, full benefits, 30 days vacation/yr, reg. raises.  No exp. needed, will train.  Ages 17-38.

There is a fourth one that say - need 18-25 A.S.A.P. No experience needed.  Must be over 18 years of age and deal with loud music and upbeat environment.

What do you think of these four ads?  Which ones should I go for? which ones should I leave out? which one should I call first?

18-25 what?  Your age needs to be 18-25?  Aren't you too old for that?

The third job you list also has a max age of 38.  What's with these jobs with maximum ages?  Is that an Oklahoma thing?

I think the ad means 18-25 positions over 18 years of age.

The third listing must cater to the younger generation.
