I wasn't talking about you. Tongue I was talking about BushAZ creeping.

Milkado,

Why do you hate me so much? Inks even admitted your too harsh on me.

And I'm admitting that I think Inks is too soft on you.

That is what ultimately got me kicked out as moderator, I'll bet.

Here's the timeline for today.  I have the interview from 11:30-1:00 and then possible orientation from 1:00-5:00.  If I post an update before 5:00, then you know it's probably not good news.  If I post later this evening, then it's probably good news.

Wow, my buddy Jamespol is gone?Huh  That's unfortunate...

However, trying to get the thread back to the subject at hand, I officially have a job!!  I went to the interview this morning at 11:30 (actually I got there at 10:45), and I was given the green light at 12:30.  I was then given an hour to go eat and told to be back for training by 1:45.  I got out of training at 4:15.  I'm to go back tomorrow from 12-6 for more training and probably the same Friday.  I'll go in for about an hour Saturday mainly to fill out the paperwork and officially get on the payroll.  My hours will actually be 10-7 M-F with some Saturdays.

Jeff, why won't you go with him?

I've been here for too long to go now.  This is getting too good!!  Plus, I meant for there to be a hint of sarcasm in that post with the three dots instead of just one period.

A front-desk receptionist for ... ?

Abel Enterprises.  They actually sell Kirby vacuums, but I'm not out there selling, I'm just sitting behind the counter looking sharp!!

EDIT:  Don't bother googling it, because there is no website for them.  The search results are not affiliated with us at all.

That's very strange! What kind of operation big enough to employ a full time receptionist doesn't have a website?

Because, each individual Kirby office is technically it's own entity and this office just opened not too long ago and is owned by a Cuban-American.

My gosh!!!!!! NO IT IS NOT!!!

That may be the practice of some Kirby salespeople (I've been to one like that before), but it's certainly not all inclusive.  Everything I've seen about this particular office is a legitimate and useful product sold by upstanding and no hassle salespeople.  This particular office believes in legal, ethical, and moral sales practices.

This forum thinks that the only honest jobs out there are behind a desk being bored for 8 hours a day, clocking in at 8 and clocking out at 5.  Sheesh!  Open your minds, please!!

Kirby isn't really a scam in the sense most of you folks are thinking. The problem with Kirby is their business model is stuck in 1957, door to door sales are dead. Kirby vacuums are actually really good products, however, they are very expensive. Is the price worth it? Depends on how much you like to vacuum.

Sounds a lot like cutco knives.

It sounds exactly like cutco knives.  Are they fantastic knives?  You bet your ass they are.  Is it worth shelling out $800 or so for a dozen knives?  How often do you use your knives?  How often are you going to use that many different types of knives for the different purposes mentioned?  Are you even going to touch some of them, ever?

Well, a Kirby is actually fairly useful. I know people who have gotten them second hand and said they are fantastic. They hold up pretty good and are made solid.

The guy who interviewed me today said this:

"There are some Kirby offices that are pieces of bull**** (his word not mine), and you have to be careful which one you become a part of.  See, each Kirby office is it's own entity and not really governed by a central office or a headquarters.  Therefore, they can generally make their own rules and do things their own way."

Plus, I'll be behind the desk for the most part (unless I want to go out and show a few products from time to time, the option is mine).  I just have to learn about the product during the next two days.

I'll be getting paid $400/wk base salary (equivalent of $10/hr).

$10 an hour?
I get $12 to be a security guard.

You really need to start thinking another way. Find a reputable company, and inquire if they have openings.

The pay is definitely not the best, but it'll do and it is better than the $0 an hour I've been making so far this month.

I'll get paid $100 for the training (Wed, Thu, and Fri), and then $400/wk starting Monday, August 30 with the first check coming in on Wednesday, September 8 and every Wednesday thereafter.

Oh, and Gramps, I'm going to make this last as long as I can!!  I don't have that much to do otherwise, so I'm going to be working quite a bit over the next 30 days, probably several Saturdays starting next Saturday, September 4.  The only day I'll really be guaranteed off is Sunday.

My dress code, much to BRTD's shegrin, is a suit, everyday!!

Keep looking for a job......this one won't last long.

At least it will provide a buffer between his next job and explaining the circumstances of leaving ONG.

Right, I didn't say don't take it........just don't stop looking.......the company (as shown in my earlier post) seems shaky to me.

Kirby has been around for well over 90 years, so it's a pretty stable company.  This means it survived the Great Depression and all the recessions since, including this one we are in (or just got out of, depending on personal view).

But it's not your future, Bushie, c'mon.  You need a real real job, but once you get some time working there you won't have to explain ONG as much, as brittain33 said.

Oh, I'm not denying that, I'm just saying that for right now, this is a good place to be as it will pay the bills and put ONG further back in the list of employers.

I'm home from a second day of work.  Even though I'll be behind the desk for my main duties, I have to go to orientation to learn the ins and outs of the Kirby business, so I can educate people on the product we offer.

I went from 12-6 today and have to be there from 10-5:30 tomorrow.  Then 10-11 Saturday morning.  Monday, I'll actually start my regular duties from 10-7.  Some days I may be able to go home at 6, some days it may be 8.  I can't go home until the guys (and gals) get back from their day in the field.  It just all depends on their work load for that day.  Plus, I may be working occasional Saturdays.

Smash, I applied to this job and they conducted two interviews and hired me.  I'm not too worried by it.

Oh, and by the way, guys, it is official - the wedding is offically off now.  I called her to see how she was doing and she broke up with me.  Oh well.  I'm not torn up about it, because I've been kind of preparing myself for it and was probably going to end up doing it anyway, but at least I wasn't kept hanging.

I hope I'm wrong on this, but this just doesn't look good.....

The fact that the ad says no experience or education needed is questionable.  The whole POTENTIAL $1,400 a month thing sticks out the worst.   It just doesn't add up that they would throw potential in there if this was an actual salary or guaranteed

Well, there is base + commission with this.  The base is $1,600/month and whatever the guys sell out in the field, I'll get a cut of it.

If that was the case the ad would not have said potential for $1,400 a month.....

You're looking at the wrong ad.  Or, at least it's not the ad I looked at and responded to.  It said $400/wk, which is $1,600/mth (or 4 weeks).  And, it had no "potential" anywhere on it.

Well, just 3 days into the job and I have a darn cold.  It's either a cold or severe allergies.  My temp is up to 99.9 as of 7:30 CT (30 min ago).  I made it through work today, but it was a struggle.  As a result, I have cancelled all weekend activities except for going to work for 30-45 minutes tomorrow at 10:00 am.  The majority of the weekend will be spent sleeping and resting and sleeping and resting some more.

99.9?! Hopefully you went to the emergency room already. Remember, when you party hard, drink bleach.

It had risen to 101.1 by 8:15, so I took some Tylenol and NyQuil and went to bed.  Thankfully, I rested well last night and woke up a little after 7:00 this morning.  Hopefully, I'll feel better today.  I feel alright right now, but with the wearing of the day, it could go down hill.

It was starting out almost like my H1N1 started last Halloween.

I am feeling a whole lot better folks.  The fever broke during the night last night, and it hasn't even attempted to come back up, yet.  The highest it's gotten today is 98.8, but most of the time it's been between 97.5 and 98.0.  I'm still going to stay home from church tomorrow so I can make sure it's all gone, but if this trend continues, there should be no reason I can't be back to full speed by 10:00 Monday when I have to report to work.

Why would you stay home tomorrow when you have no fever! Is this seriously how you live your life?

Just to make sure it's all gone and to make sure I have enough strength for Monday, because I'll probably be working 6 days this week, and probably 6 days a week for most of the month of September.

BushOK, I can believe you're real...

But all those stuff you wrote...

THIS CANNOT BE REAL!

Everybody on this forum knows how much I love Christmas.  If they don't, they need to breathe into the mirror to see if they're alive.

I make no bones about it, either.
