I know that's asking a bit too much, but I tend to have more faith in humanity than what I probably should.

No, they're really not better than this, Jeff. Most of them are pathetic themselves and need an outlet.

I don't think that at all.  Like I said, I still have a little faith in humanity.  Nothing has been done to me that makes me drop all faith.  I believe most of the people on this forum are honest, hard-working individuals themselves trying to find their way in this world just like I am.  I think the way they conduct conversations could be modified, as could my own, but I think most people here are genuine people.

C'mon guys, the way to talk about things is not by constantly attacking each other or their family members.  If you have something to say, can you talk about it like an honest, caring, sincere adult?  That is, without verbal attacks?  You guys are better than this.  I am better than this.  Some of you do talk the way adults should, but some of you talk like spoiled rich kids.  I don't go around insulting any of you at every opportunity.  Just because I am very transparent doesn't mean I open myself up to verbal attacks and insults.  I expect people to act like adults.

Again, nothing I said was meant as an attack. I merely said that if she was aware you were being more careful about what you were eating that she should accommodate that, within reason.

I have not told her, yet, about my no-fries and no-ice cream challenges for the month.  I told Mom and Dad Friday night at dinner, but I still have yet to tell her.  So, I'm not going to place any of the blame for the lack of vegetables on her.  She did everything she could, short of going back to the store.

On the weight, I am not encroaching on 300 lbs, either.  I may be a lot closer to it than King, but I'm backing away from 300 lbs slowly but surely.  I'm down to 280 lbs and have my sights set even lower.
Weren't you in the 270s a week or so ago?

Your life expectancy is also old fashioned.  If you'd like to go by 1930 ideals, then good luck with your death before you turn 60 (and with your health, you won't even make it close to that).  It's one thing to go off your diet, but you do it regularly for such lame excuses.  So your grandmother made a big deal... you tell her that you want small portions and refuse more.  Tell her that you're morbidly obese and don't want to die of a heart attack at the age of 40.  If she thinks that's stupid, then tell her that it's your life, and you want to live a long life.  It would be one thing if you actually tried to make up for your eating habits, but you don't even exercise.  If you truly had to eat that meal, you could've at least gone for a couple mile walk after.

I didn't say you were dumb.  I think you seriously lack critical thinking skills and the ability to problem solve.  You wouldn't be in most of the situations you've been in if you had those skills.  And no, you don't "mostly make very good decisions."  People who mostly make very good decisions do not end up being morbidly obese single 32-year-olds with thousands of dollars of debt and still dependent on their parents who moonlight as scam artists.  You've made bad decisions physically, financially, and morally... if you don't see that, you're in denial.

I haven't been in the 270s in several months.  I have a goal of being in the 270's before long, but I haven't quite achieved it, yet.

As for the rest of your post, I'm sorry you feel that way.  I'm not even going to bother answering such nonsense.

Bushie, if your grandma made a bowl of cooked spinach on Sunday, would you have eaten it?

I doubt she would have cooked that, because she knows I don't like it.  But, if set before me, I would choke it down somehow, with probably 3 or 4 glasses of tea.

So it's not rude to make grandma accommodate you when it's spinach.

I never said that, nor did I ever imply that.  You're making stuff up.

Lunch time.  The day is going very well and very quick.  I've moved onto another project that I'm almost finished with as we speak.  I've got church tonight from 1830-2000.  Tomorrow after work, I am going back to my parents for the night so I can be closer to the doctors office Friday morning for my blood work appointment.  I'll come back to work after the appointment.  The appointment is at 8:20 and I live 2 hours from the doctor whereas my parents live 25 minutes.  I'll do the same thing next Thursday and Friday for my regular doctors appointment.  I'll come back to work next Friday as well.

Taking a little break.  I will be leaving in an hour and 15 minutes.  I have one more day of work this week.  Because of my doctor's appointments and the logistics I talked about on Monday, he has given me this Friday and next Friday off.  I'll lose a few hours, but there would be nobody at the office to answer my questions.  All the guys get off an hour either side of noon on Fridays, and the phones won't be hooked up in this new office until Monday so he has to stay at the old office and man the phones.  Next Friday, he just says take off to save myself energy and time.  I will work until 1600 tomorrow, but til 1700 Monday through Thursday next week.

HD, I always stay in the office for lunch and have either a block of Ramen or a Mac and cheese cup.  It's not a gourmet lunch and I am usually starving by the time I get off of an evening, but they're low on calories and don't cost me anything more than what I pay at the store.  I need to find some variety, but I don't know good and fast alternatives.  I only have 30 minutes for lunch.

King, I just pay for it at the store, so it doesn't cost me anything extra by bringing it from home.

Franzl, I'm not going to attack and accuse because I know it's bad for me.  I'm still trying to find ways to replace it with little extra expense.  There are no restaurants anywhere close (probably a good thing).

Hi, fellas, I acknowledge I need to get in the kitchen more and prepare myself healthier meals.  I don't deny that.  Tomorrow night, I am going to my parents after work and we're going to have spaghetti.  I am going to ask her if I can fix the spaghetti.  I bet she'll say yes.  She has asked me to help her cook on several occasions in the 11 months I lived with them in 2013.  I enjoyed it, actually.  I don't know why that hasn't translated to my own kitchen.  Laziness, I guess.  The convenience factor of the fast food joints is so appealing that I have a hard time seeing past it.  It's so much easier to stop somewhere on the way home and grab a burger than it is to stay in the kitchen for 20-30 minutes preparing a somewhat healthier meal.  That's one thing I acknowledge needs to change.  I know the fast food joints are not good for me.  I feel it by occasional to frequent stomach rumblings that I've experienced lately.  I have no doubt the poor eating habits are 100% to blame for that.  It was easy as heck to get down to 280, but it is tougher than nails seems like to drop further.  I know that's because I am eating as a 275-280 pound man.  I need to change the mind set that I find myself in and try to get out of this rut.  I can do it, but I need to do it, not just talk about it.

I know I'm going to get attacked even for being candid here, but it's something I just had to share after the discussion we've had.

Oh my goodness, Mr Moderate.  Did you really have to condemn my food choice for tomorrow night?  At least it's not a large burger and large fries.  I see nothing wrong with spaghetti.

How about you guys be adventurous and have spaghetti made with whole wheat pasta and put some sliced eggplant and mushrooms on top?

SHUT UP no way that'll happen you silly boy!

I wonder what Bushie's family has on their pasta? Marinara sauce? Meat sauce? Alfredo? Primavera? A la vodka? Bolognese? Or are they the dreaded types that like chili over pasta?

ever hear of Ragu?

As long as the meat is lean and the sauce is based on actual real tomatoes....

It's usually 97% lean meat and it is traditional Ragu pasta sauce like you would find in the grocery store.

Hey, guys, I'm taking a late lunch today.  I'm less than 2 hours from a 3 day weekend.  All the logistical problems should be resolved by Monday or Tuesday so we should be fully operational again early next week.  I've gotten a lot of stuff done in the last 4 days and I am growing confidence by the day.  I am going to ask mom. Tonight if I can fix dinner to get a little practice in.  I know how to fix spaghetti, so it will be simple and quick.

I'm off work now.  Walter, I'm not real pleased, but it's only for today and next Friday.  I'll be back up to 40 hours after that.

I haven't been to the store since late last night, so I didn't have anything and didn't have time to fix anything.
