This sidetrack is pretty much a snoozer. Bushie is going to try to start selling us life insurance if we aren't careful... Wink

You don't have to worry about that!  My license expired 5 years ago!

A big life insurance is a good strat move for Bushie's parents, considering his condition.

Yes, this is clearly what's happening. No wonder they keep stuffing him hamburgers and sloppy joes and celebratory steaks.

You think they're trying to cash in?  Tongue

As a real licensed (Bushie wasn't licensed) insurance broker for 31 years, I'm enjoying the words of the lifescam agent, Inks.  Please let him continue.

Actually, I held my actual life, accident, and health license for two years.  I got it in 2006, and let it expire in 2008 without renewing it.  You can call the Oklahoma Insurance Commission and check for yourself.

Inks, Primerica is owned by Citi Group.  They are a legitimate company that sells real life insurance policies and with an extra license, securities.  Their hierarchy is a Regional Vice President, Division Leader, District Leader, Represenative, Unlicensed Representative.  The company is recognized by the Oklahoma Insurance Commission as a legitimate company and my license was just as valid as those from let's say, Farmers or State Farm.  I know quite a bit about finances.  My leaders taught me well.  I am not dumb or naïve on finances.  I have all the right in the world to vote in business meetings.  I am just as competent as the next person.

Did anybody at Primerica ever tell you that everyone should have life insurance, or was that something you came up with?
'
They told me I should have it.  I think they took one good look at my belly, which was starting to get nice and fat, and said "do it!"

At the time, it may have been a good idea.  Back then, it looked like you'd actually have dependents.  I still think $51/month is overpriced, but with your health, if they did a physical, it may be reasonable.

But anybody who ever tells you that everyone should have life insurance is either ignorant of basic financial principles or trying to rip you off.

Initially, I bought the policy as a $173,000 policy for about $39 a month.  I got an increasing benefit rider on it which adds 10% of the original amount to the policy for 10 years for just a nominal increase in the fee.  I bought it in late 2005, so it has been 8 years which gives actually gives me just under $300,000.  It will go up again in November as that is the month I bought my policy.  If my math is correct in November it will go up to $311,400.  My premium will go up to probably $53 a month.

Changing subjects, but I should end up with about 1,550 calories today.  My dinner was one serving of chicken and rice casserole, green beans, roll, and one piece of chocolate cake for dessert.

What did you eat for lunch? Why are you eating chocolate cake when your family is diabetic? I must know!

I had my usual 2 turkey sandwiches, a bag of cool ranch doritos, and a DDP.  I was just having a piece of dessert.  Nothing much, nothing real shameful.  It wasn't a real big piece either, maybe a moderate sized piece.

EDIT:  This is my usual when I take my lunch 3 days a week.  The 2 days I go out is usually Subway.  I'm not making the Burger King mistake again that I made last week!

It has been a wonderful day.  I made a lot of progress at school and then had a good conversation on here about insurance, a nice diversion from the usual subjects of the Update.  I had a nice Wednesday Worship Service at church and then came home and watched Big Brother.  I'll be hitting the sack about 22:00.  Tomorrow evening, I will be watching TCU vs. Texas Tech and then Big Brother.  Since tomorrow night is Thursday, I will allow myself to stay up another hour since the next day is Friday.  Friday afternoon, we take JJ to the vet to get her stitches out from her spay surgery and then after we get home and drop JJ off, it will be time for some Mexican food at On the Border.  Saturday evening, I have a birthday party for my cousin's youngest child who turns 4.

The morning went well.  I got a 100 on LAP 7 test and now I'm in the middle of LAP 8.  LAP 8 has no test, so I'll be able to proceed directly to LAP 9 sometime tomorrow.  After LAP 8 I will have 3 LAPs left plus a project in Course 3.  I should get to Course 4 by September 30.  The title of Course 4 is Presentation Graphics Animation.  That's where 3D comes into play.  Course 4 should take me to Thanksgiving break and i should be 2/3 finished with Course 5 by Christmas.  I plan to work a lot over Fall Break which may take off a few days, but without that, I'm on track to finish on April 16.

No, all they have is me.  Maisha doesn't double dip.  Each child gets one sponsor.  This is to ensure everyone has a chance to get sponsored.

The afternoon went really well.  I am very near the end of LAP 8 and should have it finished by lunch tomorrow.  I'll start LAP 9 immediately after that and should be ready to get into LAP 10 by Tuesday or first of the day on Wednesday.  LAP 11 would be sometime Thursday and the project would start the following Monday, most likely.

As of this weekend, I will be down to 7 months left in the CADD program.  In fact, I will be 1/3 of the way through my CADD training on September 30.

BUSHIE

Have you tried the Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger at Wendy's?  I had one at lunch today and it just might be the best fast food burger I've ever had.

Put down whatever burger you were planning on having tonight and get one of this things, man.

I don't find the pretzel bc appealing.

Bushie, I can't tell if you're in school or if you got caught up in Scientology.  Neither would surprise me.

I'm in school, and definitely not scientology.

Bread not white enough for ya?

I just don't care for pretzel bread.  I prefer to keep my pretzel separate.

I know I know.  Tis but a jest.  But you have to admit LAP 4, LAP 5, LAP 6 etc. and talking about "courses" would invite such a joke, no?

I hadn't thought of it as such, but to each their own!

As someone of Hispanic descent (distant, but I've still had homemade tamales), On the Border is not Meixcan food.  It's Tex-Mex.

That's because Tex-Mex is Oklahoma.  True Mexican food (US style) is in New Mexico, at least in my taste.

There is a little change in the school calendar.  First, there may be no project at the end of Course 3.  If that's the case I will start the next course on September 25.  Now, Course 4 is Presentation Graphics Animation.  However, my instructor wants to split that up into two halves, an Inventor section and a 3DS MAX section.  He wants me to move onto Course 5 which is Engineering CADD right after Course 3.  Then, do Course 4a if you will.  Courses 6-9 will follow 4a and 4b will follow 9 and then Course 10 finishes it up.  That provides less of a gap between uses of AutoCAD.  There is also a chance I might be alternating between Course 5 and 4a and possibly 4b (after 4a).  He doesn't want us to forget AutoCAD while we're using Inventor and Max.  Course 4a is geared toward the Mechanical CADD discipline which is my focus.  Civil and Architectural have their own path.  He is trying to find the path that flows the best.

yo Bushie, how much credit card debt do you have?  what's your minimum payment look like?

One card is completely paid off, another will be in October, and the third has$11,000.  Minimum on that is usually $250.

The credit limit was $9,000 initially and then increased to 11,500.  It's just shy of maxed.  One card was a stupid move (the one that's being paid off next month) and the one already paid off was a retail card.

Tweed, last I checked $11k is in the tens of thousands!

And your parents are paying your credit card debt off?  Do they just pay the minimum payments for you or more?

What happens is I figure up my bills, how much I'll need, and then I send a request to Mom who controls the finances of the family and she sends me the requested amount on Dad's paydays.  Usually, I pay $300 instead of the $250 on the one credit card.  I don't like to pay just the bare minimum.  That gets you nowhere.  Now, by June 1, 2014 I will take over my bills once and for all as I should have a ~$40,000 job by then and should have more than enough to support myself and pay rent, utilities, etc.  Right now, I've got a running list of what I expect in way of finances both plusses and minuses through the end of the year and am about ready to project into January and February.

Wow... so not only are your parents paying for your porn, but they're paying the interest for your porn.  Heck, man... you've got such a sweet deal, no wonder you haven't changed.  Maxed out another credit card?  Aww shucks, we'll just go apply for another one and add that to the list of things for Mommy to give me money for!  You have no responsibility whatsoever.  There is no reason you should be having your parents pay the extra $50 a month (there's no reason they should be paying any of it, but if they're goal is to keep you from going into default, the $50 is superfluous).  Disgusting.  Absolutely disgusting.  At least Bernie Madoff didn't rip off his parents.

Oh, so now you're comparing me to Bernie Madoff, huh?  This is like the game limbo - "How low can you go."  It's starting to get funny!

Like an inter-office memo request?  I'd love to know the mechanics of how that works.
