There's no legitimate reason for this bill to continue existing.

Also this bill has been sitting here since October 31st and not a single "supporter" of this bill (the sponsor included) has bothered to come forward to provide any reason why this is necessary. It's time to kill it and move on.

I wish that people would treat this issue as serious as it is. This isn't virtue signalling, cancel culture or whatever other toxicities exist on the left that some people like to dwell on. Supreme court justices sit for life and it is perfectly legitimate for people to want to hold them to account. Who sits on the supreme court and what they say isn't just an issue about pointless outrage, it has a significant effect on politics and trust in the judiciary in general. I struggle to trust a justice who says any part of this country is in a suicide cult. As I see it, standards for supreme court justices should be extremely high.

Current and former justices don't support what you guys are trying to do with PiT. Let it go already. There's more important issues to focus on.

Objecting to the amendment, for several reasons.

A vote is now open because we obstruct for everything now.

For starters, your amendment removes "Justice" for everything, but adds it at the end for no reason.

Second, this entire resolution is a waste of time. There's real issues to worry about. Someone saying something that some people didn't like that literally affects no one doesn't warrant us making a bill about them.

no, the bolding bit was an accident and has been fixed accordingly in accordance with:

Quote
4.) The Speaker shall have authority to correct grammar and formatting of legislation, provided that such technical changes do not alter the intended meaning of the legislation.

And secondly if you think it's useless, why are you lengthening its stay on the House floor by objecting to an amendment and forcing a three day vote when it could be adopted in 24 hours?

You could have supported the motion to table since this bill accomplishes nothing and is a waste of time.

You also had the power as Speaker to refuse to put this frivolous bill on the floor.

But here we are.

Also worth noting the first bit of this resolution was already explained and doesn't belong in the amended version. It was selectively cropped out of context to make it sound worse than it actually is.

I feel I'm in a rather unique situation here; I've both served on the court with Pit & had the honour of serving in every branch of Government within Atlasia. I believe that Pit has been an outstanding justice; I didn't support efforts to remove him as a Justice and I equally believed it was sickening to see so people suggest that any party was using this to seek to remould, stack or rig the court.

I've served on the court with WJ (we're both ex labor chairs) and have reached completely opposite rulings on issues relating to Labor! I wouldn't have supported any effort to remove Pit as a Justice, or to censure him- current events just mean this is the first time I've had more than 5 minutes to put my actual coherent thoughts down.

PITs comments sadly reflect the worst element of what is frankly a larger misogynistic and obsessive element of our politics that has came out into the open- indeed I understand Pit has apologised for the comments he made, the House can pass this resolution, it can send a clear message and we can move on.

Let's move to a final vote & get this done.

Except the quoted bit was wrongly cut out of context and was not even remotely misogynistic in nature. The sponsor of this bogus resolution and  everyone here pretending to be bothered by it knows this and doesn't care.

Thank you to my colleagues for maintaining the moral fortitude necessary to pass this, even while you got flak from people on both sides of the aisle who refused to stand up to those disgusting remarks

lmao, that's cute.

but hey, at least you can feel like you actually did something in the House for once.
