Welcome to the new headquarters of the Federalist Main Street Partnership!

The Federalist Main Street Partnership is a group of members of the Federalist Party of Atlasia that seeks to gather and organize those who consider the party's basic principles (power to the individual, regions' rights, protection from tyranny, a welcoming Atlasia) their own, but whose positions do not necessarily stand on the right wing of the political spectrum.

The Federalist Main Street Partnership is envisioned as a major political organization inside the Federalist Party, which will put forward its own agreements and positions as potential parts of the party's platform, aid and organize its candidates for public office and take part of the leadership and decisions of the party as a whole.

As the Chair of the party, North Carolina Yankee once said:

For me, putting the people on main street first, means good jobs, good roads, good healthcare and a foreign policy that keeps our people safe, while only engaging in conflict as an option of absolute last resort. It means helping both small business and entrepreneurs, as well as ensuring that workers who work hard, have a chance at getting ahead and earning a decent living.

This is something I hope we can continue with the "new and improved" FMSP, and truly make this a center of activity within the party.

I'm planning to keep the door open membership wise, so new members of the party have the chance to join, but as far as really getting into activity with this, I'll wait until Tuesday, July 4th to build some more folks for discussion.

I also know some of you folks had been members of the FMSP previously, but for the sake of keeping things up to date and organization, please sign in again below (along with new members).

Looks interesting! Is there another Federalist society besides "Main Street Partnership"?

There's also the Coolidge Society:

I want to thank everyone who took the time to join, as well as practiced patience when it comes to dealing with my messages Tongue

I sent everyone a PM to let them know that the floor has been opened for discussion on the caucus platform, and I would love to hear ideas from everyone on policies that they feel are most important, and how they feel that this caucus can help represent those views best. This is very much a group collaboration, and I want this to be something that we can all agree on and stand for, not just something a select few leaders decided on.

So, that being said, let's get this party started!

I propose that all Super PACs should be banned because they poison American politics with corruption that often works against the basic interests of regular Americans.

I mean, I've got mixed feelings about Super PACs. Luckily in Atlasia, this isn't really a worry (since there aren't any).

On a serious note, I think adopting clean energy/energy independent policies into our platform would be a great way to bring this party into the future. I myself have sponsored a bill in the South (which has been signed by former Governor NeverAgain) that builds the largest nuclear power plant complex in the world, and 1184AZ is currently running on hydroelectric and nuclear energy in his Senate race.

This would be a great opportunity for workers and the energy industry as a whole, and something I think would be an amazing thing for us to get behind.

-Rolling back RTW nationwide and giving workers the option of joining a union.

RTW still allows people to join a union, it just makes it so that it can't be required for employment.

I'd rather people have the option under RTW than have it rolled back and workers face being stuck in a corrupt union or to be forced to pay union dues they cannot afford in order to have a job.

We should also proceed with measures to prevent the state or region-wide banning of certain or all labor unions, (like teacher's unions in IRL NC), and we should stamp out 'employment-at-will' contracts, allowing employers to fire employees for any and all reasons (including participating in a labor union).

Keep in mind that going that route is still a slippery slope. While "employment-at-will" contracts allow employers to fire employees for any and all reasons, it also grants that same freedom to the employee (who is free to leave for any and all reasons, including no reason at all).

*crickets chirping*

Also I don't entirely disagree with West_Midlander's ideas (despite how my arguing certain points looks). I do support some of the ideas such as supporting the public option for healthcare, rebuilding infrastructure, and clean energy subsidies, for example.

Any other ideas anyone wants to toss in?

How is what gets into the FMSP platform, determined?

Well, I was hoping to get more input from folks and then have us vote on the stuff we want in the platform.

I sent out some PMs recently in hope of getting more activity in here before it gets to the point of making official decisions, as I don't like small numbers of people making big decisions like this.

Classic, this is just one caucus out of the three official caucuses we have within the party.

As for this particular caucus, I will refer back to the original post in the thread:

You must be logged in to read this quote.

While the party as a whole identifies as center-right, this caucus is a place for those who may not be considered "right-wing" to have a say in party platform, policies, and candidates.

If you would like to see the other caucuses that the party has to offer, here is the thread I would recommend taking a look at:

I'll be getting something together to help us get to voting on a platform by this weekend.

Apologies for the delays. I was waiting in hopes that we would get more responses on this.
That, and my real life schedule got kinda busy lately.

Myyyy bad D:

Upon discussing it with several party members who are interested in making the caucuses active again, I have a couple orders of business.

1. I hereby appoint LouisvilleThunder as Vice Chair of the Federalist Main Street Partnership.

2. I'd like to see us continuing the work we started on the platform of this caucus. Some examples from within this thread and discussed with members:

- We believe that monopolies are actually detrimental to the ideals of free market competition, and
how (limited) government involvement can occasionally be beneficial to the goal of economic growth.

- We believe in policies that implement clean energy in Atlasia, promote energy independence, and ultimately cut back on our use of fossil fuels. We must work towards scaling back on our use of fossil fuels, especially from foreign sources. We believe this would be a great opportunity for workers and the energy industry as a whole.

The rest of the proposed ideas within the thread seem to have either been resolved, the person who proposed is no longer a member of the party, or there have been changes made to the Federalist Party platform/laws in Atlasia. Obviously since this needs to be more updated and we have several members with catching up to do about this caucus, any and all suggestions from members are accepted and encouraged so that we can really get this going again. And as stated earlier in the thread, Federalist Party members are very much welcome to join at any point they wish, as we will not be enforcing a time limit on joining.

Joining this, although basically most of the party would fit in this caucus these days Tongue

Welcome!

(I fear we might have to start looking for a bigger office)

The real question is: what part of the Feds is not the Main Street Partnership Wink

While the Main Street ideas are very common in the party, and are often campaigned on by folks like our party's chair, NC Yankee, we actually do have plenty of Federalists who may fit elsewhere and have joined other caucuses, and encourage those who do not feel they identify with the Main Street Partnership to consider caucuses they identify with best.

Some others that exist within the Federalist Party:

The Coolidge Society
The Non-Interventionists
The Perot Group

After discussing with leadership my goals and roles I plan to take on in the party going forward, I have decided to step down as the Federalist Main Street Partnership Chair, and will be handing the keys to this office over to it's Vice Chair, LouisvilleThunder.

I will still be sitting in as a non-voting member, and will still be available to help LouisvilleThunder in the event he has any questions or needs assistance.
