I understand why he is doing it (he has nothing substantial to say and with Rubio gone, so are his options for creating Reality TV) but, just like in Iowa, this will ultimately backfire on him. People do listen to debates and without Trump, they will hear Kasich and Cruz lay out detailed plans and invariably compare them to Trump's lack of any.
So good move on Trump, since he has nothing to gain from debates (until he stops being lazy and starts studying the issues), but a loss for him overall nonetheless!
