Being declared incompetent for trial has a high bar, though of course it varies by state. One of my schizophrenic family members was cleared as competent for trial while in the midst of a psychotic break. Trump doesn't display the required issues. He doesn't listen to his lawyers of his own choice, not because he doesn't understand.
