I'm not going to post the rest of the thread, but please keep reading.

Basically, this is like the US assassinating the vice president. This guy's hardliner rhetoric is now being validated, and Iran, which has been preparing for war with the US, has a reason to go to war. Not only that, but there will be many covert and terroristic attacks.

Many, many lives are going to be lost. This accomplished nothing of value, even if the target was an awful human.

Obama got in a war in Lybia and performed countless extra-judicial targeted strikes and assassinations and you mostly saw cheers on the left, which is fine. But suddenly, with Trump in office, the same things will now cause World War 3 to start and the draft to be reinstated. One of the reasons I don't sport a red avatar myself. Neither will happen, by the way.

Those actions made me extremely upset, as well. I certainly didn't cheer then, especially Libya.

Though he didn't literally assassinate a high-ranking government official, either.

I wonder if more Dems would consider Soleimani a good kill if the attack on our embassy had been successful and everyone inside was murdered, because that WAS the ultimate goal. If so, why wait until they're successful?

I certainly wouldn't. It still wouldn't be appropriate to assassinate a member of another government. Remember the kerfuffle over Osama bin Laden in regards to Afghanistan's sovereignty? This is way more significant attack on Iran's sovereignty. In addition, it validates all the orphanage and anti-American sentiment people like him were spouting.

There are hundreds of ways to respond to an attack on an embassy. This was a horrible choice and only escalates things.
