AOC blasts FDR, Reagan for racist policies

Good for her.

Asians are very much at the mercy of racism. Just because no one's told you personally doesn't mean it doesn't happen. In some ways, being the "golden child" of minorites has caused some even more messed up stereotypes and expectations.

Good people can still do bad things. Bad people can do good things. Most people can be awesome and can also be awful. The bad behavior doesn't invalidate the good, and the good doesn't excuse the bad. No one is perfect, including politicians. The New Deal did many good things. It did not help everyone equally, though. One can accomplish great things and still be a racist. It is important to shred light on the failings of those we hold most dear so not to make it seem like their bad behavior is acceptable. The New Deal was a good start but it did also affect many minorities in negative ways. We can celebrate the progress it bright while also learning from and admitting the mistakes it made.

The number of people who don't understand that codemning one aspect of something doesn't mean you hate the whole thing is rather astounding.
